Car trouble

So a while back I had some car trouble.  I ended up having to get my transmission rebuilt.  That was both fun and expensive.  So you can imagine my disgust when my check engine light came on today.  Shortly after the light came on my car wasn't getting any power even though I was pushing on the gas. Luckily for me I was close enough to my house that I was able to coast into the neighborhood.  I got the car over to the curb and parked it.  I tried to start it up again but it was dead.  So now my car is parked around the corner.  If it is the transmission again, which I really think it is, then I am good.  The transmission is still under warranty.  If it's something else I don'tk now what I am going to do.  I have no money and my credit is crap.  I have to figure out something or I'm going to loose my job.


 


Why must everything happen at once?

Contact your Insurance company ASAP and then the place were the Trany was done.\r Hopefully you will get a loaner car from one or the other. But it may come down to borrow, carpool or public transportation, if you have that were you live.\r I wont get too involved with trying to diagnose it, but if the engine would rev up and you weren't going faster I'd look at the Trany. If the engine would not rev up with more gas, then it's probably the engine, but may be something the Trany place did depending on how long a \"While back\" is.\r Let us know what happens and what you get told.

I got a 25 cent that says that it's not the transmission but more likely than not, your oxygen sensor. If that's the case, it'll be cheaper than it cost to fix your transmission and take less than a day to get it replaced.

I want to say an O2 sensor is around $100 but it's been 7 or 8 years and 2 cars since I had to do that. Check Engine light usually means faulty O2 sensor. When the O2 sensor takes a shit the computer can't set the fuel air mix properly and the motor either won't start or runs very badly.

A quick Google speaks of the wire from the Alternator, that would do it. Try getting a jump (the battery) if it starts with the cables hooked up and it dies shortly after it is disconnected it will definitely be a possibility.\r Also check your serpentine belt, it should be really tight.

I was thinking possibly the alternator, if it lost power and wouldn't start afterwards.
