Book Review
Well, since I'm still waiting on "The Ghost Brigades", I picked up "Odd Thomas" by Dean Koontz.
Now, I used to be a huge fan of Koontz. That is until I came to the realization that the majority of his books followed the same formula and no longer held any magic for me. The same thing happened to me with Patricia Cornwell. Her books became repetitive I felt, so I dumped her as well.
Well, Koontz has brought me back into the fold with "Odd Thomas".
I'm only a 3rd of the way into the book, but holy cow. I haven't been drawn into a book like this in ages.
Koontz narrates the book from a first person point-of-view.
Odd Thomas is his real name. And, his life is odd. He sees dead people. He talks to them. They don't talk back however. But sometimes, they do gesture and give insight into why they are ghosts. And then Odd uses that information to solve a crime usually.
This isn' t the "Sixth Sense" mind you. It's better (IMO).
Mind you, I'm only a 3rd of the way into the book, but I've already placed holds on the next 2 books in the series.
2nd:
3rd:
I'm sorry I can't into more detail, but as I said before, I'm only a 3rd of the way into the book, and things are about to go ape-shit in the story.
I'll provide a fuller review once I've finished the entire book.
Needless to say, this is Koontz's writing at his finest and another story that truly is original (ignore "Sixth Sense").
