Black DIamond Blues Festival

I consider myself rather lucky - as I live 2 blocks away from a marina and newly remodeled downtown area.  This town is really trying to bring it back, so to speak.  I live in Pittsburg, CA, and back in the day (1970s) it was THE place for blues in the west, aside from Oaktown.

I saw the last blues bar downtown demolished 6 months ago, however, it hadn't been used for over 20 years.

Today I got a taste of the Black Diamond Blues Festival.  I would link that to a web site, but it sucks... It was held downtown, and Matt and I walked over to check it out.  I am a blues lover, not hardcore, but I do know my blues and what to listen for.  I was mildly surprised at what Sunday Afternoon had - good blues... check that - really good blues.  It's a 10 year old festival, but there's still a lot of work to do.

It's not international - hell, it ain't even bringing people in from the next town over... but it has promise, and I hope to be living here when the crowds are huge and the names are legends.

Matthew lovin' the blues... it would later make him cry.  Or maybe it was the fact he hadn't had a nap...

They had one beer tent with bud/bud light and some specialty beers. It's interesting, there's a black diamond brewing company - even had a banner up at the beer tent, but it wasn't for sale...
