Awesome show

The other day I was in the huge ass Target by my house and lo and behold, what do I see but the box set of The Black Donnellys! If you didn't watch this show when it was on TV, you should check it out--I think there are actually a few places to view it online, but I don't know much about watching TV through the web other than ITunes.  I got hooked on this show during the first episode and absolutely loved it. For some reason it was canceled after 6 or 7 episodes, very strange because the acting and writing were fantastic. I will never, ever forget the last scene of the pilot episode, or the Snow Patrol song that played during it--one of the most moving scenes I've ever seen in a TV show.

Anyway the girl made me pick up the box set, because she watched the first two episodes at my place and I ended up watching and deleting the rest before she could watch.  I guess they finished out the season, they just never bothered showing the final episodes--so I have that to look forward to after re-watching the other eps with her.  The cancellation was so abrupt, I still remember my cousin coming into my cubicle the next morning (he still loves watching stuff live, even though he has TiVO) and demanding to know why it wasn't on the previous night, like I knew.

Another great show the chick and I have been catching up on--through season 1 now and starting season 2--Monk.  I watch this religiously but missed a lot of early episodes, and the DVD's have spanish subtitles--which is great for her.  This is another excellently written show and I can't believe that they are still coming up with funny and interesting plot lines after 5 seasons.  They had Snoop Dogg on one recently! It's a great show and the only problem is I can never watch anything with the lead actor without thinking of him as Monk.  Even Jeebs the regenerating alien seems like less of a scumbag now.

I like pretty much anything on USA network.  I think it's brilliant what they do now, they offset their new programs to coincide with reruns on the major networks and I couldn't be happier about that--it gets you through the lean times.  Psych, the 4400, Monk, The Dead Zone--all fantastic programs.  Of course, the big hitters are starting up again soon, so the USA shows are winding down.  Man I watch way too much TV.
