Are you F#%KING kidding me?!?!?
I don't usually post about political stuff, but this survey came to my attention and I've been thinking about it for a day or two. If this is a LEGIT survey, it means my opinion of the human race has been way too high. I consider myself independent (or libertarian) and I don't have strong feelings one way or the other on the president.... but..... really.......do these numbers represent how the rest of Americal feels about Obama? These opinions strike me as being functionaly retarded. Is America really this stupid, or is this poll just propaganda? Someone clue me in, please. (relax it's a very short, entertaining/depressing read)

Ahh the world at large truly is getting dumber and dumber. Nobody thinks for themselves anymore. It's sad. Truly, truly sad.
When the world turns to one of the three bigger \"news\" sources for their information, this is what occurs. Common sense is going the way of the dodo.
So I wonder if the same 67% that says he's a socialist are the same 40% that he does what's in the best interest of the banks.\r
\r
Hopefully....hopefully....they can see where that doesn't jive.\r
\r
No? \r
I have a theory that in any survey you can get 20% of the people to have the most bizarre belief possible, so the first 20% should be discarded. The fact that many of these numbers are edging 30% or so probably doesn't have a lot of significance...after all, Obama is a socialist in that he is a \"big government is the solution\", \"corporate profits are bad\" kind of politician. That moves him toward socialism in the political spectrum. People jump on labels.
Oh, and people are idiots. You faith in the human race is misplaced.
@ Dastard. I said my opinion was too high, I thought they were idiots before. Now I suspect they are hopelessly retarded. I never had faith in them. ;)\r
\r
What I'm looking for some kind of credibility check. Is this poll a legitimate sample? Is the polling company biased? Was it corrected to reflect American educational levels, political affiliation and so on... It looks like it was... The only thing I don't like is that they don't give margin of error. My understanding of statistics is limited, but shouldn't a survey have one?\r
\r
@ Fade into Black\r
I see the point you are trying to make about bias in media. Is Harrisinteractive a part of \"The Big 3?\" I'm unfamiliar with them. I heard this poll mentioned on NPR. You have to sift through the crap and try to find the truth. Thats why we are here having this conversation, instead of just swallowing and following OR rejecting out of hand because we don't like the information. (the BBC is a good source too, but understandably their coverage of American politics isn't always as in depth, what with them being concerned with the rest of the world and all.)\r
Unfamiliar with Harris interactive, that is. ^^^^^^

It's been around quite a while and likely as accurate as most, but poll results can change daily so unless they deliver a history (like the presidential approval polls), I would take it with a grain of salt. Again, I really believe you have to discount 20% of the respondents, so I'm not sure I would read much into this information.\r
\r
Oh, and don't diss us R-Tards. We'll send our zombie armies after you.
@ Dastard.\r
\r
Thanks,\r
\r
These are some of the results of The Harris Poll of 2,320 adults surveyed online between March 1 and 8, 2010 by Harris Interactive.\r
\r
So your 20% rule that means that 2 out of 10 people are so stupid they are one generation away from not being housebroken? That's depressing, but believable.\r
\r
The socialism issue isn't as disturbing to me as the Hitler references, Birther claims, Antichrist concerns and other far out stuff. Admittedly some of these have lower numbers, but not all. Even if we use your theory, 41%-20% =21% of the population who are supposed to be normal rational people who believe that he wants to use a terrorist attack to give him an excuse to overthrow the government and become supreme dictator. \r
\r
Polls like this just drive up my misanthropic tendencies. \r
\r
I'm gonna go online and shoot some people, that always makes me feel better. =)\r
Yeah, but they said the same things about using terror attacks re:Bush and 9/11.\r
\r
Oh, and I NEVER said they were housebroken. You continue to overestimate the human race. :)
All your statement proves is that many Republicans and Democrats ( perhaps we should just say Americans and be done with it) are stupid.\r
\r
I have never contested this fact, our argument here is over the degree.\r
\r
Me overestimate the human race? Who would have thought I was an optimist all this time. ;) ;) ;)
No...not at all....what I meant is that many segments of our \"American Idol\" TV generation pick either CNN, FOX News, or MSNBC to watch as their \"news source\" and believe any information they receive there as gospel, rather than take that information and sift the information, or even better, do their own research. (Guess I should have specified better).\r
\r
When more households are more interested in the TMZs of the world, we as a collective informed public are not doing our duty in staying \"informed\". Harris to my knowledge has always been a fairly unbiased source on their polls.
But look at the quality of the journalism at the National Enquirer. At least they paid attention to what Edwards was doing. \r
\r
Could it be all those alien babies are real?
@ Fade, no harm done, I'm partly to blame. =)
Bell curve. There are outliers on both sides and the brunt of the populace is dangerously average.
