Any of you old farts in/near New Orleans?

I will be there for a week in October for work, the 9th through the 13th, and I would love to grab a beer or hang out for a night or something with anyone willing.

I am actually a little excited, I have never been there and I like going to new places.  With a place like that I have heard a lot of “oh man stay away from *insert shitty place here*” and “dude make sure to check out insert cool place here*” but as always, I hold my 2O2P folks’ opinions highly.
