And Back to the Games: PC-10 to the Rescue

So it seems there is nothing like a bit of kickball, beer, pizza and coming home to new games to get a guy back on the right track. After what can only be described as a day spent in a serious funk (see my previous blog and the associated comments for details), I left work and headed out to meet some friends for the first of our summer season kickball games. Now this particular group of friends are more closely associated with my better half, Michelle, than me and even though the idea of playing kickball as an adult seems a bit silly, I was in dire need of distraction, so off I went. And distraction is excatly what I got. I had forgotten how fun it can be to play a game that you have no real investment in, to play simply for the fun of it. We kicked the ball, we joked, we hammed it up and pretty much had a blast. After the game (we lost 6 to 1, but who cares), we headed over to the host bar, where each team was treated to a picture of beer (ok, it was PBR, so calling it beer may have been a stretch by my standards) and a free pizza. After several tasty beverages (I chose to order & pay for pints of Guiness and leave the pilsner to those with hardier pallettes) and many laughs, we headed home, a night well spent.

Upon arriving home I found a package waiting for me in the foyer. It seems the second order of games for my Nintendo Playchoice-10 arcade cab arrived today. Just what the Dr. ordered. So I made sure my girl was all set for bed, then headed to the basement for the screw gun to take the back off the game and install the new game boards. I now have a fully loaded Playchoice cab with 10 of my favorite classic nintendo titles from my days with the NES. In addition to the six pre-existing games in my collection (Baseball All-stars, Castlevania, Super Mario Bros. 3, TMNT, Techmo Bowl & Ninja Gaiden), I now have the following games in my collection:

For those of you who can add, you have most likely figured out that I have one more card than slots in my cab, so one game is going to have to go. That game will be Baseball Stars. I never really get into baseball games that much and I can't see keeping this title over anything else that I currently have. So if anyone is looking to buy a game board for the PC-10 at a very reasonable price, let me know.

Robotron Update

So the guy who is selling the pretty mini-Robotron Cab came down a tad on his price and may be able to deliver the game to my door. I spoke with the lil lady tonight and received "authorization" to add another arcade cab to the collection, so it looks like I am leaning towards the purchase a bit more. I should make a decision by Saturday, so stay tuned.

Funspt Interviews

Finally, don't forget that the Funspot Tourney interviews are still coming. I was able to conver the file over to avi format today. We are scheduled to go see Gerry Springer - The Opera tomorrow night, so not much chance of me getting to the editing process until Saturday evening. I am hoping to have everything edited by Sunday. Keep an eye here for updates.

My sister was in the DC area Kickball league, I made fun of her constantly for it....but that was more because it was my sister than is was about the kickball.
