American Classic Arcade Museum

One of my first blogs for 2old2play was a photo recap of my first trip to Funspot a few years ago. Since that time, I have visited the facilty and the American Classic Gaming Museum several times, most recently to interview Bob Lawton, on of the foudners of Funspot, and Gary Vincent, Director of Research and Development for the Museum. While we wait for DSmooth and Doodi to get around to posting my interview with Gary and Bob, I though I would recap my visit in photos here.

This is the main entrance to the American Classic Arcade Museum. Just inside these doors is Shangra La for any geek from the 80's like me.

If you are good enough at a given game to set the world record, you may find yourself on the Wall of Fame at the American Classic Arcad Museum

As you can see, some folks like Brian Kuh here, have set records for numerous classic coin-op games.

Of course, as mentioned in previous blogs, the movie The King of Kong was filmed here.

And this is the place where Steve Wiebe set the Donkey Kong High Score Record as seen in the movie.

If you win the Tournament in May, you could even have a super-sized picture of yourself up on the walls of the museum like Micahel Sao Pedro here.

There is also tons of cool memorabilia posted everywhere in the Museum like this Dragon's Lair Poster.

Or maybe you prefered Space Ace back in the day.

They even have an example of the first coin-op video game ever made - Computer Space

Here's a quick history lesson for you folks.

I spent a ton of tokens during my visit last week on my favorite pinball of all time - Pinbot.

There are lots of great games from the 70's and 80's lining the walls of the American Classic Arcade Museum

No really, pretty much every space in the arcade includes gaming goodness like this.

Including one of my favorites - Tron.
