All you have to do is ask

Hello my fellow "old-school" gamers, I felt it necessary to write this as a blog rather then a thread in one of the many forums here on 2O2P so as to not get lost in the shuffle. I was tired of gaming online with prepubescent teens who most of the time were either extremely racist, homophobic or just plain ignorant and man, was I ever glad to have discovered 2O2P. After becoming a member of the 2O4BS clan I received a few friend requests which I promptly accepted, however little did I know that these new "friends" and I wouldn't be friends for long.

One of the reasons I was excited to find a site that catered to "grey beard" players was to play with people who understood that many of us just want to relax and have fun after a hard days work, you know just to kick back and enjoy ourselves. As soon as I accepted these new people as "friends" they were quick to remove me for not playing full throttle full time or go hard or go home attitude. What? I mean really?  Sure after Black Ops I'll admit I was turned off by multiplayer team death-matches because I got fed up with modded controllers, spawn killing, and various other techniques used by lesser players to gain an advantage.

If you wanted to get a match going all you had to do is ask but realize that of course I'd like to do well in matches however If I don't I would like to know that my team/clan has my back, and isn't the point of gaming to simply have a good time and not fuss too much over stats or K/D ratios?  If you are reading this and happened to be one of these people, just because you sent me a friends request doesn't mean I know what games you are into, and how you play them. If you find out later on that we don't really share the same taste in games or gaming styles, keep it simple man and  just shoot a message telling me you are going to remove me as a friend so that I wont go a looking for ya to get a Mass Effect 3 match going. It just comes down to plain 'ol decency be considerate. If I sound a bit sour, I'm not cause I'm too sweet to be sour...peace man :)

Sorry to hear you haven't had the best experience. Keep in mind that this is a large community full of all types. There are asshats, mellow yellows, class clowns, etc. You have to find some peers with wich you are comfortable. From my experience over the past two and a half years here, I've found that there are more members with your attitude than not. Like you said, you try to play well, do your best to win, and if things turn to shit, just have some fun with it. I noticed you have 4 points for participating on the website. Hop in the forums and get a feel for members here. It won't take very long to see who is on the same page as you and who isn't. This place is very much like most things in life...you can only get out of it what you put into it. If you don't make an effort to find those friends, then you aren't going to find them. My friends list is constantly over flowing with some really cool people, and every single one except my children and nephew are from here. They are all awesome. If they aren't, they get the boot. It's unfortunate, but we don't play the same games. The only game I play is Halo. If you play that at all, hit me up. It sounds as though we have the same attitude towards games. I have enough turmoil in life and i don't need any more when it's time to relax. Remember, a little effort goes a long way. Once you find a few cool peeps, they'll introduce you to other cool peeps. It will eventually snowball from there. Hang in there man.

Came here to write a long post until I saw Wams, which is spot on. I myself was really hardcore only a few years back. My genre of game and ability to play has gone fairly casual now and I've found no trouble finding different groups to play with. The key really is finding your niche here. 2o2p will never be a perfect fit for everyone as a whole. It isn't until you truly explore the site and meet new people will you find your home. To be honest, a lot of that is our own fault. Clans tend to hide off in their own forums, but we're working hard to bring them out of their shells. Its always possible to meet the out going crowd on the main forums however. Just remember, the members here are only human and play games for their own reasons. Some are competitive, some not. Just have to find the ones that fit your style.

All good points above man. Just hop in some of the different areas you like and check out the posts and the people that post. You will pick up soon enough who might be a good fit for you. We have the whole gamut from uber hard core to dudes that can barely walk and shoot at the same time. Just keep trying and you will find your fit. P.S. ignore that Admin dude. He is kind of an AssHat and hates freedom.

Also, keep in mind that many of us have a full fl. I've been dropped by a number of peeps over the years here. Mostly from the real competitive guys after they realize that I mostly just get drunk and make bathroom jokes during matches. Keep sending out requests. Eventually some will stick and you'll be glad you did.
