Adenoids?

Has anybody around here had to have their kids adenoids removed? Any setbacks? voice changes? anything at all? My son if 5 and the ENT doc said we should have his 'noids removed. They are swelled and playing tricks with his hearing. It's also suggested to get a second set of tubes for his ears (ugh). Sucks that summer is here and he'll have to wear plugs again when he's in the pool or shower.

My son had tubes twice and his adenoids out around the same age. No big deal, and it eliminated all the ear infections as well. He is 9 now, and has not had an ear infection since he had it done. He also said his hearing got better after the surgery! The surgery doesn't take very long at all, and well worth it.

Hope things get settled for him soon.\r \r I've heard about this before. A friend of my mothers. Her kid had this. He had tubes put in twice. No problems with them. He had them removed years ago. He's been fine. No ear problems to date. \r \r I shot your horse, then I shot you,.and I'll do it again! = P

Do you have to have tubes put in after the adenoids removed? My oldest son had tubes in his ears until yesterday. If he starts getting infections again they will do the tubes for a while and when he grows out those, do the surgery if the ears are a problem again.

I had them both at about the same age and like TKBosss son from what my Mom says it helped me a lot with no side bad side-affects.

G, I'm not sure if you have to do tubes (again) if you get the 'noids removed. Should ask the ENT doc about that.\r \r I'm 95% sure we're going to schedule it soon, just need to get a few things in order since he will be out of pre k for a week so I'm told.
