A serious question...
I need your help for a project I'm working on. Here's what I'm thinking about...
I'm trying to figure out the most beloved video game that never had a sequel, which, if a sequel was announced, would cause the greatest negative reaction ever.
Does that make any sense?
I'm not asking which video game would you love to have a sequel for. I guess I'm asking what is the most popular video game that, it is universally agreed by gamers, should NEVER have a sequel?
What do y'all think?

I'm not sure if Earthbound ever had a sequal, if it didn't that would be my bet.
Braid, maybe.
I would have to say psychonauts... this game still looks good even on a 360 but there is no way they could ever recapture in a sequal what this timeless classic had.
Most developers try to milk the successes of games. I really can't think of a great game now that has had no sequels. \r

A good game that I enjoyed back in the day that I don't think had a sequel was Kid Icarus. I always hoped they'd do a remake on it, hopefully better than the Bionic Commando remake.
I don't know if there is one. Gaming fans in general, I've noticed are the ultimate suckers for sequels. A ho-hum game can be released, and then it gets a sequel and all of a sudden, that sequel more cred than the original (possible exceptions being Pikmin 2 and Overlord 2). \r

BigFish - one of the launch games for the 3D-DS is a Kid Icarus game.\r

So, awesome game, generally beloved, but a sequel would instill a collective groan from the gaming community at large? I don't think it's possible, but if so, would have to come from way old school. I'm thinking maybe Dig Dug, Moon Patrol (doesn't everyone love it as much as I do?), maybe Q*Bert?
