2007 Can Suck a Nut
We're not even a month into the year, and already I've been riddled with disease and death. First getting crippled by some horrible lung and congestion problem that has me breaking out with asthma (huh?), and then over the weekend, on top of everything else, getting hit with a stomach bug. Y'know, the kind of explosive sickness that I thought only hit babies?
My one ray of shining hope after all this will have (hopefully, for the love of god) settled, was Lost Planet finally releasing. Only the initial reviews are... less than favourable. So now I'm confused and broken, my resolve floundering. Though it's safe to say I'm hardly wanting for a new game already, but still, Lost Planet was one of my personal must-haves--for almost a year now, since the epic E3 demo. Stories of a 10 hour single-player campaign has me worried, but it's more the fact that the bugs become less and less an issue in the game, as things shift more towards Pirate and Mech battles, with a spiraling storyline that has me put off.
Doesn't help that I have zero interest in the multiplayer--I don't see Vegas getting replaced anytime soon as it is. So a 10 hour game that has some great moments but is ultimately flawed doesn't sound like quite the 70$(Canadian) bargain it once did.
So now my early 2007 hopes have to rest on Crackdown, who's buzz is only getting more positive as its release looms, and I'm finding myself genuinely excited for it. Co-op is always a huge feature for me, and this game is all about the co-op. Even though people are joking about it being the 'free game you get with your Halo 3 beta' I really couldn't care less about the beta. You scrubs can have fun with your circa 1999 PC Deathmatch and Capture the Flag modes, but I'll be busy tossing cars with a buddy.
I suppose now my ray of shining hope has changed from the 12th, to the 18th. Here's hoping I'm not let-down.
