EB and GameStop started taking in-store pre-orders for the PlayStation with a $100 reservation deposit required to reserve one of the 400,000 PS3 shipping this November. As expected, the pre-orders were taken very quickly since most stores received a preorder allocation of eight units.

In addition, many consumers around the country are reporting that employees from these game stores are allowed to buy PlayStation 3, which will inevitably encourage some gray market practices.
