Finished a game!

So last night I finally finish Lord of the Rings: The Third Age for Xbox.  While that might not seem like such a big deal - it is.  Its rare that I finish a game anymore.  It seems like a new game always comes out or I get sucked back into playing Halo 2 again.  I can't tell you how many times I've set myself down and said "no more buying new games until you play through your old ones."    Yeah right.  That never freakin' works.

I've been getting an mmorpg itch lately, there's just something about leveling characters.  However since I've had LotR and I picked up Morrowind when it dropped to $10 I've been able to postpone scratching that itch since I've got 2 games that you can level guys in.  I had LotR for slightly over 2 years, since the Xmas it came out.  I opened it about 2 months ago.  I was stuck in a Halo2 groove.  But wait you say, mmorpgs are on the computer not the xbox.  Yeah you are right but same situation applies, I've got tons of games I never finished.  Neverwinternights anyone?  Bought the diamond pack which has ALL the expansions thinking it would last forever - it has, I'm only 1/3 the way through the first game :(

I don't know what it is about finishing games as I've gotten older.  Maybe they are too long, 40+ hours is great when you break it down into a doller per hour entertainment value, but not necessarily so good when it comes to feeling as though you are getting somewhere in a game.  Know what I mean?  I believe my final total for LotR was 33h51m.  Actually about 2.5hrs or so of that was just the game sitting there while I did something else around the house.    Its not that LotR wasn't a good game - it was.  I was really impressed with it.  Good storyline, great variety of characters and powers leading to good and some necessary combos, and probably the best use of multimedia interaction in a game I've ever seen(music, sound effects, cut-scenes and integration of actual movie footage was fantastic).  But other games kept popping up preventing me from finishing it in a casual fashion.  So for the past 2 weeks whenever I wanted to play a video game I forced myself to play LotR.  Ok, ok, thats not entirely true I did get some Halo2 time.

So now I've got an unopened copy of Morrowind downstairs that I'll be opening tonight and starting out on - unless I get back into Halo 2, or Star Wars Battlefront 2, or Age of Empires 3, or Neverwinternights, or Dungeon and Dragons Heros(xbox), or Phantom Dust, or  I stop by the store to pick up Guild Wars.....

Yeah, I am not much for finishing games either. I still haven't finished Halo2.
