Pain, exhaustion and stress

That's basica;;y what this blog is all about. Stacy is doing her best not to go insane from sleep deprivation. I'm trying to keep things going here at home, which has lead to an enormous headache and both of us are extremely exhausted. Stacy's dad is still holding on. There have been a couple of mements where things looked grim, but the nurse has continued to tell us that he is following text signs that the end is near. He is down to about 100 pounds and his breathing is shallow ahd short. Stacy doesn't want him to die alone, thus she has been by his side, along with her brother, since last Thursday. Barely sleeping and eating, she remains vigilant. The boys don't know anything other than poppa is very sick. I took Megan up there last night so she could see Stacy and boy it was it a wonderful reunion. She hadn't seen her since Wednesday night, after church. She gave her poppa a tohn of kisses on his hands and told us the he was "sleeping". Stacy is ready for all of this to end and I think so are the rest of us.

On a brighter side, Jimmie lost one of his front teeth. It's not much, sseing him without a front tooth was enough to bring a smile to my face. A face that hasn't had much to smile about recently. I miss having my family together, all in one place. I miss the warm touch of my wife's skin. I miss us going out to the mall, or out to eat. I miss her voice telling me she loves me. What I miss the most is her presence. Just her being here. Just her.

When my grandmother was dying of cancer, she stayed at my parents house for two weeks before her passing. Everyone came to see her, everyone enjoyed the time that they had (although everyone was crying). The joy was knowing that THEY got to be there to say goodbye, to help with her passing and to know that she lived a good life. Although your wife isn't around right now for the family, she's doing what she needs to do to help him out on his last days. In my humble opinion, there is nothing more that I want than to know my kids will be by my side in the final days. How much it would suck to go unexpectedly and have nobody there for the big send off. It won't be forever, and while she's doing her part you're keeping everything in perspective, the kids happy and life goes on. When she's done her part, she'll be back to get the house in order again and life will begin to return to normal :-) One can only hope for such great friends near the end.
