Elgato HD60 Unboxing & Review Video

Fri, 08/22/2014 - 07:51 — I6_Hitman

This is a Review Video for the Elgato Game Capture HD60.

In this video I unbox the Elgato package, show you some recording samples, side by side comparisons with my other capture cards, as well as a walkthrough of the Game Capture v2.0 software that Elgato just released.

As some of you may or may not know I'm a huge fan of video editing and live streaming on Twitch.tv. I've been streaming on Twitch.tv for the last 5 years on my twitch channel (twitch.tv/WatchTowerGames) and you might have caught a stream or two of mine on the 2old2play Twitch channel. I've gone thru several capture cards in that time. I started with the Hauppauge HDPVR, then upgraded to the BlackMagic Intensity Pro. Over the years i've also tried out the BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle, the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD and ExtremeCap U3. All of them are great but only the ExtremeCap U3 was capable of capturing @ 1080p60 via USB 3.0. Then I heard about Elgato's new capture device, the HD60, which is a USB 2.0 device that captures @ 1080p60 so i decided I wanted to check it out. I got my hands on one of the new devices from Elgato and decided to give it a proper testing. I've been testing it for about a few days now and i feel like it's time to tell you what I think about it.

Here's a quick overview of what it can do:
- it's a USB 2.0 device
- captures video at 1080p60
- HDMI IN, HDMI OUT, Analog 3.5mm Audio IN, and Mini USB port.
- Package includes a HDMI cable, USB 2.0 Cable, and a Elgato Gaming Sticker!

Check out my Unboxing & Review Video and see what I thought of the Elgato HD60.

AVerMedia ExtremeCap U3 Review Video

Sat, 03/08/2014 - 22:26 — I6_Hitman

This is a Review Video for the AVerMedia ExtremeCap U3.

In this video I give you my thoughts on the device, show you recording samples, side by side comparisons with other capture cards, as well as a walkthrough of the RECentral software that comes with it.

As some of you may or may not know I'm a huge fan of video editing and live streaming on Twitch.tv. I've been streaming on Twitch.tv for the last 4.5 years on my twitch channel (twitch.tv/WatchTowerGames) and you might have caught a stream or two of mine on the 2old2play Twitch channel. I've gone thru several of capture cards in that time. I've had the Hauppauges, the Black Magics, and even the AVerMedia's but unfortunately none of them allowed me to record video at 1080p 60 FPS. Until I heard about AVerMedia's ExtremeCap U3. I got my hands on one of the new devices from Amazon and decided to give it a proper testing. I've been testing it for about 3 months now and i feel like it's time to tell you what I think about it.

Here's a quick overview of what it can do:
- it's a USB 3.0 device
- captures video at 1080p60
- HDMI In only, no output
- 0ms response time (you can view and play off the software window without any delay)

Check out my Review Video and see what I thought of the AVerMedia ExtremeCap U3.

AVerMedia Live Gamer HD Unboxing & Review Video

Wed, 05/29/2013 - 20:18 — I6_Hitman

As some of you may know I'm a big fan of live streaming. I've been streaming on Twitch.tv for the last 3 years or so. I've gone thru a bunch of capture cards over the years. I first started out with the Hauppauge HD PVR. I wasn't happy with the quality of it and it had a terrible input lag. I then upgraded to the BlackMagic Intensity Pro. That card gave me no problems but i was still looking for better quality. I then upgraded to the BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle. That one gave me awesome quality but since it uses USB 3.0 it caused me a lot of headaches. Unfortunately none of them allowed me to play at 1080p. I've always had to downgrade to 720p and play on that resolution. So the search continued for a capture card that could meet all my requirements.

After doing some research, I decided to try out the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD. I've heard that the card is amazing and it allows 1080p gameplay. So I decided to give it a try and see how I liked it.

In this video I open the box and see what is contained inside. I also show a quality test as well as a quad comparison with the other capture cards I use.

Inside the Live Gamer HD box is a small PCI Express card, a DVI to HDMI adapter, HDMI and HDMI to DVI cables, an audio cable and the wholly optional but immensely helpful Hot Button. Installing the Live Gamer HD is relatively simple, as long as one understands the ins and outs of a computer.

Check out the video and see what i thought of the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD.
