Time To Learn German (Leipzig)

Remember when it was cool to go to E3? When the center of the gaming mayhem was in North America and everyone waited to hear all the great news? Well, other conventions are now seeing record attendance... The Games Convention 2007 (GC) has opened the doors with record attendance figures. No longer will E3 dominate the hype machine, we're moving this boat to Europe baby.

34% more exhibitors this year than in the past with 25% more surface area to cover and an estimated 200,000 visitors are expected. They're expecting to see 2,800 journalists from over 35 countries reporting on the 225 world, European and German premiers.

"This year I am convinced that we will have up to 200,000 visitors at the GC", says Josef Rahmen, Managing Director of the Leipziger Messe. Last year saw a total of 183,000 visitors welcomed to the exhibition centre site. "The GC is continuing to build upon its position as the leading European fair. This year we are expecting over 9,000 trade visitors and some 2,800 journalists from over 35 countries."

Our future seems to be heading overseas for the great conventions. It's time to buy some plane tickets and learn some foreign languages because E3 just isn't doing it for us anymore. Considering the press that came out of E3 compared to the bombardment from Leipzig this year... it's fairly unbelievable.

It's like all the companies waited to release neat news and new previews for the later events.
