Okay, I made 5 calls and that's way too much. I'll respond to the EA DRM issue here.

I think they're deauthorizing DRM for a reason that isn't so philanthropic - they're going to have people register their games online so that in order to use any patches, they have to have a unique handle, etc.

This isn't new, this is what Stardock does - their games have zero DRM, but if you want patch fixes, updates, etc, you have to register the game under your unique ID.

The other thing is that The Sims 3 is going to have massive downloadable/uploadable content like Spore, so hacked copies will be missing a ton of the game because they simply can't access online content.

Yeah, Stardock has done this from day-one with utter success. I've always appreciated them more for that.
