A Rant Concerning My Local Gamestop

I've noticed a trend at the local Gamestop where I make the majority of my game and hardware purchases: while they frequently sponsor midnight release parties they rarely have release parties for the games that I pre-order. They had a Black Ops release party, one for Dragon Age 2,one for Deus Ex, and they're having one for Arkham City. No Duke Nukem Forever, no Forza 4...bitches.

Portal 2 Review

Portal stands as a classic example of a sleeper hit. Packed in The Orange Box, a Valve collection featuring Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, and a couple of Half Life 2 sequels, Portal was the little puzzle game in the shadow of giants. However, Portal had a lot going for it....it featured addictive gameplay, a menacing antagonist, and packed in with one of the most popular game series ever. It didn't take long for Portal to steal the spotlight from Gordon Freeman.

Progress on Painkiller's Story

I posted a blog last week called The Monster of Red Lake Falls. The story has gotten some attention, ran in the Red Lake Falls local paper, The Gazette, and has involved both Minnesota Senators. Killer has a lot of paperwork to fill out. We are still a long way from getting Killer the help he needs and I would like to see some involvement from the community that values him the most...us.

Review: L.A. Noire

My expectations were very high popping LA Noire into the 360. Everyone on my friends list was playing, it had received all kinds of positive reviews, and was enjoying a high resale value. You may ask "Hey Sarcasmo, is it Grand Theft Auto from the cop point of view?" I would say no...and don't call me Sarcasmo. The best way to describe LA Noire is LA Confidential with a controller. Rockstar has borrowed heavily from the finest recent example of Hollywood Noire, and some of LA's iconic characters can be found in both places...Johnny Stompanado, Mickey Cohen, etc...sorry, no Jack Vincennes.

Mortal Kombat

I have been playing Mortal Kombat since the original was first introduced in the arcade, and consequently have played almost every subsequent console iteration...I even bought the Sub Zero side scroller game. I am a Kombat kinda guy.The recipe for Mortal Kombat is 1/3 Big Trouble in Little China, 1/3 Enter the Dragon, add a pinch of Drunken Master and Supercop...served ice-cold on the tombstone of your vanquished friends. So how does the new Kombat kompare? It hasn't changed a lot, it's basically the first three games of the series.
