Whats up pimps and pimpettes. My life has been kinda hectic and crazy the past few weeks. It's been "hell month" at my job. We print all of the programs for the major equestrian events in Aiken. Steeplechase, Trials, USCA Polo and the Aiken Horse Show. So it's been non-stop and will continue to be until the end of next week. It'll be downhill from there for a little while.
So gonna enjoying the weekend and trying to get some planning done for a few projects I've been working on, and other projects I want to start.
I just purchased a HD video capture card so that I can start capping my own content for videos that I edit. I've been editing together trailers for some fighting game tournaments that a friend of mine hosts every year. It's called the ACT series. Aiken Convocation Tournament. We're on Act V now. So it's been going for a good bit. This is my 2nd time editing a trailer for them. And I think I did alright, just not great. I've been stuck using other peoples footage and not really having the know-how to put together some great graphic overlays and custom animations. So I'm gonna be learning to do that. I also plan on doing some livestreaming of events here for my clans and possibly for 2old2play if they'll let me. That'll be in a month or two once I get the equipment I need and get some time under my belt with all this new stuff.
Here's a link to the trailer for ACT V if you're interested in looking at it.
I also am getting back into illustration and trying to come up with some prints to sell on the side for a little extra cash. Not taking requests or anything. Just doing what I like and seeing if others like it. I think that's really how artists can be successful. Do what you love, and if others dig it they will be willing to pay for it.
Also been gaming a little bit here and there. Far Cry 3 on the PC and now Gears Judgment on the Xbox. I cannot express how dissapointed I am in Epic Games and how Judgment turned out. It's just not Gears. Killing enemies just isn't as satisfying now that I can't curb stomp them or execute them in multiplayer. And overall content-wise, this was not a $60 game....this was a $30 DLC Season Pass for Gears 3. The features, gametypes and content they removed, topped off by the price point and some of the things they've changed gameplay-wise....I'm just not happy with it. And it's sad because Gears is by far my favorite shooter. Been a big fan since the first game dropped. It's like if they took Halo, removed the ability for you to jump, drive vehicles, and get headshots....removed, team slayer, capture the flag, and oddball and replaced them with something inferior, shipped the game with only 4 maps used for those gametypes....then tried to sell you a season pass.....that had content that really should have been included in the game to begin with.....because that same content has been in every iteration of Halo.... It just doesn't make sense to me.
Anyway...enough about that.
Plenty of Gears 3 I can still play. lol.
Oh. Apologies to all whose been following me and the Gears armor stuff. I've set it aside for the past few weeks, but I'm gonna be working on it again starting tomorrow. So I hope to have some updates in the next couple of days. Hopefully a completed boot, or at least fully assembled boot.
Who knew that having some side projects would end up keeping me from any real gaming time? I didn't when I started them. I also need to stop being nice and volunteering to help others with their projects.
I work for a mom & pop printing company in downtown Aiken. I don't make a lot of money and sometimes the people suck. But it's a job and sometimes I can network with some decent people and have some fun projects. And I get free printing for my own personal use...so there are a few perks.
I do a lot of printing & design for the Aiken Performing Arts Group. They are a non-profit group that tries to bring fun & interesting shows and performances to the Aiken/Augusta area. And it happens that they needed some help editing together a promo video for their 2013-2014 Season Performance list. I opened my big mouth and said I could help. So now....the next few nights I am stuck using my free time to edit together a video for events I'll never go to, and am not even remotely interested in. My kinda shows don't come around this area. My own fault. Me and my big mouth....
So...not gonna be doing this again. I miss having a night to just lounge and watch T.V.
Alright. I have a small progress report. I started tracing the templates out onto the foam and actually got some pieces cut out. Got 3 or 4 more pieces to cut before I can start shaping and gluing the boot together.
Here are some pics.
Stenciled traced onto the foam with a sharpie. Pencils didn't leave a very visible mark. It'll be covered with paint so no worries.
Woooo! Pieces cut out! Only 2 weeks behind schedule.
Here's the edge of a piece after it's cut. I'm just using a utility knife. So will be using the dremel to sand & clean up the edges before they are shaped & glued together.
That's about it for this post. I'll have some updates either tonight or tomorrow. Walking Dead is on tonight so I don't know if i'll get anything done after that.
Decided I'm gonna drive myself nuts and take on a big project.
As a lot of you know, I'm a whore for Gears of War. Been a gear head since Emergence Day (which happened to by my birthday).
So I decided to take my Gears obsession to the next level. Cosplay!
Yes over the next five weeks I'm going to attempt to make a full suit of C.O.G. Armor from the Gears series. More specifically, Hoffman from Gears 3. (pictured below).
I'm going to be using EVA foam that you can buy in sheets at Harbor Freight. It shapes and paints really well apparently, and a ton of people use it to build Halo armor, Gears and Mass Effect armor.
So I have 5 weeks (starting today), to get this bad boy going and see what happens. Needless to say this is gonna cut into my gaming and social life pretty substantially. Wait....what social life? HA!
Anyway. Here's the schedule breakdown I have set for myself. Hopefully I won't hit too many roadblocks and can stick to the schedule.
WEEK 1: Research, Template creation (using poster board), and create a torso dummy (using duct tape, an old shirt and sheets)
WEEK 2: More Templates (because there's a lot of them), Begin Foam cutting and shaping (using a heat gun & exacto knife)
WEEK 3: Foam Cutting cont., Shaping cont., Gluing pieces (w/hot glue)
WEEK 4: Major Assembly Begins, Priming, Painting & Wiring up Lights
WEEK 5: Painting & Finishing Touches / Details
It's gonna be a lot of work. But it's gonna be fun.
Thankfully I already have weapons ready to go. I own both Lancer props that NECA sold with the launches of Gears 2 & 3. I may try to make a grenade to go with the armor though if I have time. Doubtful though. I also have a bunch of NERF pistols I can paint up for a temp side-arm until I have time to spend on making an actual Snub or Boltok pistol.
Wish me luck.
Here's a few reference shots so you can see what it will hopefully look like when I'm done.

Alright, it's a new year, and we're just months away from Judgement. Let's figure up Gears at 9PM Eastern on Saturday night and chainsaw the hell out of one another. Let me know below if you're able to make it, so we know who to send out invites to. Also, if you haven't yet, send a FR to the Gears tag - a2o2pGears - so we can find you if you're not on our friends lists.
Now...what the hell are you waiting for?

This is a call out to all the Gearheads in the 2old2play community! We need your help.
JohnnyHustler and myself have been trying for the last few months to help get the Gears community here on 2old2play to grow. The results haven't been what we've been hoping for. We've had community game nights setup for several weeks in a row, and just never got a real decent turnout. Does this mean that there's no Gears community on 2old2play? Nah. Just means the word isn't getting out there to enough people. Or people just aren't sure they wanna jump in and play.
Here's the skinny. We don't care if you're in a clan or not. This isn't a clan call. We don't care what your skill level is. You may be terrible at the game or the best of the best. We don't care if you have all the DLC or not. We just want people to get more active in the Gears community here and get gaming with their fellow Gearheads.
Head over to the Gears forum here on 2old2play and get involved. We're going to start holding game nights again real soon. But we need to make sure we have people lined up that want to play and have a good time.
Let's get this thing going.
Public matches are full of nothing but cock-mongling wall-bouncing gnasher-pricks. Why? well cuz Epic seems to only want the gnasher folks to have dedicated playlists here recently. So yeah no. No es bueno. People are playing like they are Michael J. Fox with a controller. And that shit's gettin old.
Its not a fighting game. You don't count frames or do animation cancels.
Ugh. I hate people.
Does anyone know where I can acquire a solid arcade stick for the ps3 & xbox for under $100?
I can build one but I don't have the workspace to do that right now.
I'll even take a gutted madcatz tournament stick.

It's time to say "FUCK YOU, WORK WEEK!" and crack open your bottle of Jack, Rum, Vodka...whatever, and get down and drunk with your Gears buddies here on 2old2play.
We'll be running Horde or Beast until we get 6 players, then we'll jump into the gnasher gnitty gritty with Team Deathmatch, KOTH, some classic Execution and maybe even a little Capture the Leader.
So get on Live, get drunk, and get your asses into our Gears N Beers lobby.
It's gonna get stupid.
P.S. This is a SITE-WIDE invitation. Any clan, any member, is welcome to join us. Hit me up. Gamertag: Gatsu Godhand
