G4 Link

Here's a link to the new microsoft kinect (formerly project natal). There's a section about half way down the article that talks about games. They list a Star Wars game. Now, I'm sure I don't have to explain this to anyone but, how sweet would it be to play something like this fully interactive?! Force push, light saber swinging, etc....! It all sounds great but sadly, this is what will happen:

YouTube

and then this

and when a Matrix game comes out for Kinect, this

you know i'm right. but i'm still going to play it and look like that dumbass! XD

Compared to yesterday today was like a small piece of heaven. I was able to accomplish quite a bit around the house and still managed to get in some time to myself. Not to mention I had Chipotle for lunch!

So on to the title of this blog. I decided to go ahead and pull the monitor from the Altered Beast cabinet and remove the chassis board from the bottom and start getting it preped for the parts that are on the way. I followed the instructions for discharging the monitor and everything went smooth. Not even a single pop or crackle (if you don't know what I'm talking about here's a link). So anyway, after feeling comfortable enough to start pulling the remaining harnesses and neck board I noticed there were 2 white wires coming from the CRT that were soldered to a resistor and then over to a couple of quick disconnect pins on the board. I labeled them and disconnected them. I was writing some info down on the remaining wiring leaning in with a flashlight to read some labels on the PCB when.....BANG!!! HOLY SHIT! WTF WAS THAT?!?!?!?!?! One of the white connectors managed to role over in just the right way and even though the connector was insulated it hit a grounding prong that was just long enough to reach the metal connection on the inside. WOW. My heart was running 90 miles an hour! I'm still not sure what happened but, I'm guessing the anode discharged. I don't know yet. One thing is for sure I'm going to do some more research and figure out what the hell happened so I don't make that mistake again. For some reason 29,000 volts doesn't seem like it would be much fun to touch.

Like I said, at least I didn't poop myself.

Arcade Machine Madness

Sun, 06/06/2010 - 12:46 — Bonecollektor

Well, like Waterborn said, "Welcome to the addiction!" This weekend I went out and picked up 3 new arcade machines: Altered Beast, Ninja Assault & After Burner! I was able to score all 3 machines for a little over $200! Of course the machines aren't perfect but, that's part of the excitement! I've been spending some time figuring out a new parts list for each machine & a BIG THANKS GOES OUT TO WATERBORN for helping me out! He provided some key information and directed me on the right path. Getting hooked up with the guys on the KLOV forums has been instrumental on finding out what's right and what isn't. Not to mention the excellent advice Dane has been providing! I've broken it down per machine what it's going to take to get them going.

Altered Beast: new neck board for CRT, new ultimate joystick, reject button

Photobucket Link to Altered Beast pics

Ninja Assault: new optic pcb's for guns, security locks for coin door

Photobucket Link to Ninja Assault pics

After Burner: this game is in working condition but, may just need a Cap Kit

Pics not available yet

So anyway, don't mind my messy garage in the pics! :D I've already been in touch with some of the people on the KLOV forums and it looks like I'll be getting my board this week sometime! I'm going to go ahead and order all the other parts except for the optics for the guns. This needs some more troubleshooting before I spend the money on the new parts. I shouldn't really have more than $100 total wrapped up in getting these machines back up to full working order. THEN I will be excited to start the refinishing of the cabinets. Luckily I have two friends of mine locally who own vinyl graphics shops so if i want to redo any of the graphics it won't be a problem! CAN'T FREAKING WAIT PEOPLE! This is going to be soooooo much fun! Better go for now. I've got some more research to do!

I know I know. Most of you are wondering "why did he change it?" As most of you have noticed, I updated my age from 31 to 32. Yep, it's done. I'm officially another year older on Sunday. This may come to a shock to some of you because I'm fully aware that you think that I might be a "daywalker" but, I am aging so there's the proof. Hard to believe I know but, it's true. You know it's weird to think about the before times. It's so hard to imagine a world without awesome however, this was the case 32 years ago.

ok....I can't do it any more. *END ALL SARCASM*

So back to normal, I didn't get a chance to upload the pictures but, I'm hoping to get them up tonight (maybe). I was sifting through them last night trying to get them organized. i still have to put the xbox back together and get some pictures of the finished product. Anyway, I'm sure you're all drooling with excitement but you will just have to wait a little while longer.

Damnit, I said no more sarcasm. Oh well! :D

WTF Kane & Lynch Movie

Fri, 05/28/2010 - 08:15 — Bonecollektor

I thought I remembered some vague bad idea about a possible movie based on the already horrible video game "Kane & Lynch" but, I had no idea that they already had it casted! I remember playing this game and from what I recall it was pretty fucking terrible. I guess it could make for a decent movie but, has anyone looked at the casting? JAMIE FUCKING FOX ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?! He already ruined "Law Abiding Citizen" why bring his trashy ass into another movie that could have a possible chance? Not to mention it's just wrong if he plays the character 'Lynch'. Also not to mention that in the game both characters are WHITE! WTF?! Is Hollywood so damn desperate that they have to keep remaking remakes of old movies or decide to ripoff a few video game plots in order to make a quick buck? I certainly think so. What a crock of shit though. If you're going to make a movie based on something that has already been created AT LEAST try and stick to some of the main features of the original source.

Here's a link to Kotaku talking about the director taking a dump on the project.

Anyway, so this weekend is looking good. Despite the fact I have a leak in my finished basement (that the plumber hasn't been able to find) that has ruined my carpet, I'm still in good spirits and can't wait for the 3-day weekend! Still debating on purchasing the Rampage Jackson vs Rashad Evans UFC 116 fight this saturday but, I haven't made up my mind. I might just take the money and go buy a new game instead and watch the fights on the interwebz! :D Best of both worlds right?! Well, time to go. I better go find some water wings to wear in my basement when I go home. j/k

Have a great weekend everyone!
