I need a new (or old) game to play...

Reach died for me very quickly.  It just doesn't have maps on par with Valhalla or Standoff or Guardian.  Or something.  I don't know.  The campaign was awesome, but the multiplayer got boring pretty quickly.  I bought the new maps, but I haven't even popped the Reach disc in to try them out.  Maybe I'll feel a sudden urge to play Halo again at some point, but right now I have no desire at all to play it.

I beat the crap out of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.  Finished all the single player achievements, and did almost all the missions except for a couple side missions that still go back and knock out every once in a while.  I loved the game.  LOVED it.  I hope they release some single player DLC soon.  The multiplayer is really fun too and I've been playing that a bit.

But other than Brotherhood, there just isn't much out there that interests me until Portal 2, I think.  So I've been trying to find something to play.

Option 1: Borderlands  -  I bought this when it came out and reached level 19 or so, but then I sold it.  I can't remember why exactly.  I liked the game enough.  It was kind of annoying trying to find a group with similar levels to play with, but other than that, I remember the game was pretty fun.  I'm thinking about picking this up again.  Still on the fence.

Option 2: Oblivion  -  A very old game now, but I still have a lot of guild quests and the entire Shivering Isles to work though.  I think the game may be a little too old now though.  I want the new one.  Can't wait for the new one.

Option 3: WoW  -  Yeah, I really kind of want to go back to WoW.  I have a level 70 hunter.  But there are a lot of things holding me back.  First I would need a new computer.  My laptop chugged in Burning Crusade and was near unplayable in WotLK.  And I'd want a laptop again, probably an Alienware.  I spec'ed a decent one out for only $700 today, but I only need the damn thing to play WoW...I don't play any other PC games, and I just can't justify that.  And then it would take me a lot of time and dungeons with a lot of randoms, most likely, to level up to 80 (and then to 85) to join up with anybody and raid.  And I'd have to learn to raid.  And with cataclysm everything has been completely re-vamped and I'd have to completely re-learn how to play my hunter.  I just don't think I want to invest that much time (and tons of money) to get caught up to enjoy stuff.

Something needs to fill the gap here.  My tastes in games seem to be changing.  Right now it seems to be in the action/adventure/sandbox/quest type game, like ACB.  I don't really know if I feel like playing a FPS right now.  I'm thinking I may have to give Borderlands another chance.  I know it is an FPS, but it had enough questing and RPG elements that I think it might work to keep me interested.  And then hopefully there will be more ACB single player DLC eventually, and I can play the multiplayer in that every once in a while too.

I wish Fable or Fallout appealed to me, but I never could get into them.  Maybe I should think about giving Fable III a chance.....I just didn't particularly enjoy Fable II and sold it pretty quickly.

Is anybody else feeling game-stuck?  Or is it just me?

I have too many games to still play and can't get to them all. Not enough time and when I do have some, Black Ops calls me too strongly. So I guess I have the opposite problem as you and it sucks worse, I promise. ;)

I get where he's coming from, i've also had enough with FPS games. I haven't liked a shooter since Gears 1 and Modern Warfare 1 except i really got into Bioshock 2 but it was laggy as hell and not many people playing. But it was a blast to play, something different in a shooter but that's why not manyp eople wanted to play it . Bulletstorm is looking interesting except i have concerns over multiplayer problems since it's an Epic game doing peer to peer. I think most problems with shooters today are peer to peer connections, it's dedicated servers or go home as far as i'm concerned. Homefront is looking promising. But i'm looking forward to other games next year non-shooters.

I was in that funk for a long time. In fact the only game that did it for me was WoW. I liked reach, but just like you the maps were a HUGE turn off. Lucky for me COD is a big winner in my book. I don't know how long it will last, but for now I'm content. I'm mostly looking forward to Guild Wars 2. That game looks like a real break through.

I didn't like the Reach maps either. It's the halo game i played the longest and actually did have a good time playing reach but the maps were steamy piles of shit. COD for me is becoming the madden of shooters. Same stuff over and over with some new gimmicks. COD peekd for me at MW1 and it's been a downhill slide since then for me. It looks like with Blops they took some steps to improve it's quality rather than just adding gimmicks. So that's good, i'm still not buying it though.

If you want an easy game to get into, sandbox/rpg/tons of quests to complete/multiple character options - try out Sacred 2. You can find it for under $20 now and it has an incredible amount of gameplay to it. The world is probably the most detailed and interesting I've seen. (one thing though - pick up a mount as soon as you can just to travel faster because the world is so huge). Also for rpg with some strategic combat action try the Dragon Age series. I think there is a release that has both the original and Awakenings. Lots of quests and the writing is amazing. - Raider30

I never could get into COD. It is just way too realistic for me. I like my space and science fiction shooters better. Tank, Mass Effect is a good idea. I had the first one and played it a bit but got bored, but I might try the second one out. Heard too many good things about it. I rented Dragonage and it was cool, but with the whole party management system it actually pushed me back into playing WoW last year. I figured if I was going to form a party full of AI with a tank, DPS, etc, it would just be more fun to form a party of real people. I'm definitely going to look into Sacred 2. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Please take option three off from the list. Many people swear on Boderlands. I just couldn't get past the graphics, they made me nauseas. I play BF2. Free maps, most awesome maps, great teamwork. Very few timmies.
