OnLive

There has been a bunch of advertising for Homefront on OnLive recently.  So I decided to start up and check out the Arena.  One nice thing about OnLive is being able to spectate random people.  I saw some single player and multiplayer gameplay.  I dunno, it looks an awful lot like COD.  Fast paced, hit markers, kill streaks.  When will something original come out?

Ya i'm in, send a friends request to TANK . Nice thing bout being a founding member is you can get choice pick of profile names :) I've got a review in the works too, working on it here and there. I fired it up today on my HTPC which can play todays games directly without the need for an onlive service. But i wanted to see the quality difference between that and my shitty p4 ive been using with it so far and I can't really say there's much of a quality difference. I guess this is like looking at BluRay vs HD streaming, the quality is good and you can even play games your system has no chance of playing on it's own, but it's not as good as a full blow gaming PC. The advantage though is portability, you can play from most internet connected PCs i would imagine.

I wish there was actually something I wanted to play on it. They're having a sale right now on the games, 20% off or something i read in an email blast from them.

Plus several of the games are casual titles which you could play on any PC. http://store.steampowered.com/app/15520/ I've played that on Steam before, doesn't take much of a computer to play it. so why get it on OnLive for the same price?

Why does linux make a difference?

The free game coupon was for people who got in for the beta. Not founding fathers so much as the pilgrims. The 30% off promotion is already over.

@samastag. I got in the Founding members, not the beta "Also, for being one of the first registrants to the Founding Members Program, you are receiving a FREE game coupon code which you can use towards the purchase of a game of your choosing on the OnLive Game Service. Thank you again for your enthusiastic support of OnLive!"

Just got an email back from OnLive support. Thanks for contacting us. If you received an email message from us this month about a free game, please be aware that we are currently working to honor those offers. Everyone who received this email message should also receive a promo code redeemable for one free Full PlayPass for any title currently on our service. You should expect this message shortly after activating your account. We appreciate your continued patience. If you received an email regarding a free game, but did not receive this code in your activation email, please contact again to let us know. If you did not receive an email for a free promo code offer and signed up through our Founding Members Program, please be aware that this program does not include a free game promo code. This offer was extended to our pre-registration and Beta members. We apologize for any confusion.

I don't like how the games that you purchase are only supported for "At least three years". So if I buy a game for $60, then after three years poof, I can never play it again. The answer is yes, I still play games that are over three years old. The whole idea of not actually owning your game is a real turn off to Onlive for me.

Albeit not 100% original, but I'm hoping Brink will revitalize the FPS genre. From what I've seen so far, it looks like it could quench my thirst. I've been feeling the FPS slump as of late... it just feels like everything is a copycat to something else.

I'm looking forward to that CoD/Katamari crossover.

Arvind, that exists on Steam - it's called The Ball.

They stopped innovating the FPS after the era of Gears1/MW1/BadCompany1. Everything that's come out since on the 360 is some copy cat or mixture of those three titles.
