Ok so here are some pics of the shells I want to switch too:

So when I get them (bought them at www.decalgirl.com) I am going to split them up, a combo blue/red shell (blue on top-red on the bottom) and a red/blue shell. The directions seem easy enough, although you click on a link to a flickr page of some pictures a guy took doing this. But I do have to say the pics are well done and I get it just by looking at them.

But here is the thing that has made this a pain in the ass so far, and at the time of my order decal girl was out of the tool.

FINDING THE FUCKING SECURITY TORX TOOL TO UNSCREW THE SHELLS!!!  (before you guys leave a bunch of comments on where I can find them or what I can do, I have already found it at www.wiha.com) But let me tell you. This was freaking a mission from hell. Finding regular torx wrenches is relatively easy, finding SECURITY torx is a pain. I went to 5 different shops to find a driver of the size I needed, at 3 of them I found the bits that I could just stick them in a 1/4 adapter for my cordless drill, but here is the kicker. The length of the tip of the bit is not long enought to reach 2 of the screws in the controller, because the sheath of the bit (the part the connects to the 1/4 adapter) is too big in diameter to push down so the tip can reach the screw head. So I would need to find a driver that was long and skinny, or had the diameter of a allen key relative to the size of the size that I needed. Well like I said I found it at wiha and I hope it is what I need. The shells and the tool or on there way from Delaware and Ohio, so I am guessing I will get them sometime next week.

I will try to take pictures of my little project and let you see/know how it goes. Wish me luck. This is my first try at a "modding" type project. I know it is just unscrewing scres, and moving parts around, but if something can go wrong it usually does, especially for me.

I just shaved/reamed the openings for the torx screws on my controller with a pocket knife.. managed to get in far enough to unscrew them all. The biggest pain in the ass with the 360 controller is getting it back together with all the moving parts in the right place.. you practically need zero gravity to hold it all together..
