Happy New Year!

New Years Eve, rather than going to the big parties or out to the bar, I hung out with a few friends. We watched a movie or two, played trivial pursuit, and watched the ball drop on TV. There were six of us total - three of us (self included) are in our early 30's, the other three in their late 20's. And it really made me realize I'm not getting any younger. This same group used to party like crazy, stay up well past midnight, drink several bottles of champagne, and essentially use that one night to really go all out. This year, one couple didn't drink because they were driving, and the other couple packed it in almost as soon as the ball dropped. My wife wasn't drinking because she is pregnant so she drove back home, and I was in bed and asleep by 1:00.

What the hell happened to us??

And on a side note, anyone else think it's time for Dick Clark to give it up? I have watched his New Years Eve show for as long as I can remember, and I don't know if the network is forcing him to keep doing it or if he is forcing himself, but it's getting harder and harder to watch somebody in his condition struggle to make it past midnight.

Same here...a bunch of the couples had their kids with them, and were out the door by 12:05. My wife (also pregnant and therefore driving) and I were the last to leave at about 12:20.
