Just wondering how many people here have elderly parents in nursing homes and what do they do to deal with the situation? My father is in one for his demntia&alzheimers I accept how  he is but those damn places are soooooo depressing ..I could only hope when my time comes for that end of my life that I have no clue whats going on cause anyone with all their marbles wouldn't stay in one unless to visit someone..But my father has gotten violent with a few orderlys striking one guy in the jaw and taking a swinging at various females cna's luckily he hasn't connected with them but guess he has also thrown his food at them, hopefully they set some of his meds higher so he stays more calm..But please tell me your stories and opinions on this?

Thanks

we have my grandmother in one. (I know not exactly the same thing) But it comes down to research, research, research... Even then things are not 100%. But hopefully you can find enough reviews, comments and referrals on line to make the best decision you can. We have also been fortunate in being able to use a management company to have someone come in a couple times a week to check in on her.

My father in-law was in a nursing home for 5 years after a stroke. I hate nursing homes almost as much as I hate funerals. I hate the smell of urine and bleach. Not to mention random people approaching you thinking you are a son or husband, and then shreiking horribly as you walk away from them. I also had the displeasure of my grand mother and grand father in nursing homes as well. All I can say is pray they go quickly, to a much better place.

Yeah I don't want him to suffer if he knew he was like this it would kill him
