IF the indocrination theory explanation for Mass Effect 3 is true then everything makes sense and then some.

No spoilers...if you really want to know...its out there on BioWare's Mass Effect official site and spreading!

Yes, I want to believe...I really, really do and it resolves a lot of questions I had with elements of the ME3 storyline and the endings in particular. I will happily, royally take back every evil thought I had or said about ME3 and BioWare because if true...I think it is brilliant. There are some things that absolute thrill me to be wrong, wrong, wrong about.

See, it wasn't the catalyst ending that got me so much. I thought it was a fascinating premise. My problem was that it made no sense within the Mass Effect storyline. I had just figured this was the endings we were stuck with and perhaps the result of BioWare developers/writers having a bull session or nasty drunken debate over catacylism theories and viola...Mass Effect was involved, evolved and tragically affected. I even thought that if BioWare had sat on the catalyst idea and introduced it into another different game I would have happily been playing it in Sci-Fi bliss.

Wait...lets do the math...

  • Mass Effect + a catalyst ending = uhappy fan
  • Totally new game + a catalyst ending = potentially happy fan
  • ((Mass Effect + a catalyst ending) - the catalyst ending) x indocrination theory resolution < new amazing ending  = stoked fan

*giggle*

I am lousy at math anyway....but still...

There were things in ME3 that leave you scratching your head and examing and re-examing  and I just found myself shaking my head and narrowing my eyes trying to reason it out but also snorting with indigation because I couldn't reconcile it and figured I had just been stuck with something gamer nightmares of made of.

When I read the indocrination theory I felt like I had previously stepped to the edge of the abyss but I hadn't made the leap until reading the theory suddenly giving me the construct framework of what was nagging at me. (Beam me up, Scotty, I am ready to be transported)  I really love the time that has been put into delving into and dissecting and ultimately producing the Indocrination Theory. Reading the "evidence" and the manner in which it has been documented logically really gives my toes a curl. A lot of considerable thought and rationale has gone into sorting it and presenting it. Sweet.  Is it the truth? It clicks. But does that make it the truth? Only BioWare knows for sure. I am not convinced that they (BioWare) are not dastardly bastards for doing this to us if they are in fact doing this to us, though.

Rumour has it...April (1st perhaps?) for the DLC "The Truth". I can wait for this.

If the Indocrination Theory is TRUE..this girl is eating crow pie with a wicked and delighted smile on her face...

(If is isn't...well....I am sighing with sad resignation and moving on...)
