Just another weekend...

I finished Final Fantasy 13 last weekend. I don't think I ever warmed up to it. It isn't that its a bad game...just not my kind of game. The end boss fight...or should I say fights wasn't as tough as I thought. I used my favourites Lighting, Fang and Hope. I set Lighting as Balanced, Fang as Offensive (hope she didn't take that personally) and Hope as defensive and it was fast and furious and...over. I am not sure about the ending either. It was kinda flat but okay.

Meanwhile, I am playing Need for Speed. Its a lot more fun than FF13 and an interesting way to pass the time until something more exciting comes along. Need for Speed has made me come to a self-realization - I AM a speed freak - an exceptionally giddy one.

I think after this I will have to go back and play GTA IV. Need for Speed has made me miss Niko and Packie and driving the streets of Liberty City. I loved The Ballad of Gay Tony. It was like coming home to Liberty City and I liked some of the cameo appearences. Being a biker was kinda boring. Poor Johnny. If that is the biker lifestyle...nah....it couldn't be....

But GTA IV was a real mix of game experience that I really had a lot of fun with. Mind you - stealing the subway train in TBOGT was hilariously fun.

I can't wait for GTA 5....there has to be one right?  I would like it to be about Packie after he takes the money and tries to start over somewhere...but he told Niko he'd go to Ireland one day so I am thinking that is where he has taken the stolen money and run off to. So...a new adventure...a new cast of characters.

In the meantime, I was looking through my game library. I have a lot of great games and I am looking forward to revisiting some of them. I went back and played Max Payne awhile ago and it was fun. I was thinking of going back and playing Bard's Tale. Enough time has gone by now I'll have forgotten most of the jokes and gags.

Prince of Persia the movie is coming out. I have mixed feelings about seeing it. In the trailer its odd how everyone in ancient Persia speaks with English accents...including the American Jake playing the Prince. Huh? Nope. Don't get it. So that gave me a queasy feeling about the rest of it. I've played the trilogy...loved it. Could anything possibly measure up? Movies based on games have been dismal disappointments. Maybe this is one for the BluRay rather than the theatre.

The weather is all over the place. Cold then warm then rainy then snowy (EWWWW!!!!). Just kinda horrible. We went for a bike ride on the old rail bed out to the big train trestle. I have an involuntary form of vertigo and so I was nervous about the trestle. Turns out the bridge didn't bother me. They've really fortified the bridge and put up some heavy duty railings on it. The approach to the bridge is kinda scary. Its exceptionally beautiful but high, very high and since the old railbed only supported one rail it also seems narrow. I was taught in defensive driving that where you look...is where you drive....so when I was riding towards the trestle...I was afraid to enjoy the scenery too much thinking I'd turn the bike in the direction I looked and...go off the trail and down the scary slope, and break something...if I survived. But I made it.

I watched a movie on TV called Sin Nombre. It is quite a film. I am not sure how to explain it. A teenage girl, her father and her uncle make there way from the Hondouras to Mexico where they intend to continue to the U.S.  In Mexico there is a teenager in a latino gang,  his gang and a new young member he is mentoring. Illfate intervenes and the groups all converge towards the promise of a good life in the U.S. A. Its a bit dark but quite an eyeopener to someone like myself. I've lived in bad neighbourhoods - but I still consider my life as a priviledged one. Check it out if you get a chance.

I also watched the documentary about Peace Day. It was great and....inspiring.

GTA5 is coming but i think it'll be 2011. If you're down with some more RockStar sandboxers, they're putting out Red Dead Redemption on the 18th, it's a wild west theme and looks pretty bad ass. I'm looking forward to that.

Yeah. I've been eyeing Red Dead Redemption...kinda like GTA5 gone Western Eastwood. Looks like fun...but....I have to admit I love the city and....the speedy cars. Although....galloping around in Obilvion was kinda fun sometimes...and maybe I get to chase down and hop a train...I mean it is a western!
