Oblivion Final Review

“…and close shut the gates of Oblivion.”

Well Captain Picard, I did, and your son, you know Boromir from Lord of the Rings is a cool guy. If not a little sorrowful.

My overall impressions from this game are that it is a fantastic world full of life and adventure and really easy to play. While I rushed through the main quest, I am going back to do every other quest I can before starting again.

It is really an amazing game, I cannot for a single second think of not continuing it.

But everything is not roses. After several hours of play (with a lot of zoning) you will get loading lag, the odd crash (3 times in 21 hours) is annoying but not bad since I save A LOT, and it is easy, way to easy. Now I do not have the difficulty maxed, but next time I will.

Graphically – 9/10 – The game is totally diverse in so many ways. Open plains that lead to snowy mountains and thick forests that seem totally real. Dungeons and sewers that look like you could lick the slime off the wall.

Sound – 10/10 – I was hard on this initially but I really think it is by far the best sounding game for sound effects in my game library.

Voice Over – 10/10 – What a separate category? Yes, thousands of lines of dialog recorded for this game and some of the best story writing I have read makes this amazing. The voices fit almost every character, everyone talks, just not the main characters.

Music – 9/10 – Gripping sound track helps this game a lot, but at times the music does not fit the action or non action. But not a biggie, at least not for me.

Game play – 10/10 – Deep rich game play with AI so smart its almost like playing a MMORPG ( a low population one ). I have come across random events like murders, robberies, assassinations, common people helping out in battles. The controls are nice and easy for the most part. The good out weight the annoying by so much I have to give it 10/10

Overall – Not a game that will appeal to everyone, it does take some time to get into the story if you are not one to make the story yourself. But if you give it a chance the game is remarkable, the story is gripping and fun.
