I don't really appreciate Win10 much. Even for free I don't want it, which is somewhat of a first for me because I'll try anything once if given for free. (No, that doesn't include scat.) The first time, it crashed spectacularly during install gimping everything and forcing a reinstall. The second time it installed proper, but then videocard resolutions suddenly meant nothing anymore. 1920x1080 suddenly meant that only the upper left quarter of the picture fitted on my monitor, and that games had the weirdest resolution except the ones I expected them to have.

Nvidia to the rescue I thought, them just having had released the latest, most shiney, problem solving Win10 drivers known to man not a day ago prior to me installing the OS. That led to even more outlandish results. So I figured that I roll back to Win8.1 and be happy, but that went as expected. Whatever that was after rolling back I'll probably never figure out apart from being amazed that it booted at all.

So, that brings me to this day, with a fresh install of Win8.1 and no games on my HDD to speak of. Which means the end of my getting back into Dragon Age for the time being. I'm thinking of playing through DA2 because of the DLC I never saw or played through before and relegating Origins and Awakenings to the Dragon Keep.

Starting over again from the start just isn't happening because I hate IRL groundhog-day. I'm thinking of delving into The Witcher 3 too, because I have bought that on release-day and have not looked at it beyond the starting-screen.

Well, moving on...

Win10 remains the best OS ive had to date that isnt an Apple product.  Upgrade 3 PC with 0 issues on any.  Sucks it blew your system up.

Win10 surely looks like the shit. That's why I tried to install it twice. I think that I know what's up here, it's either one of two things. My Nvidia is a 650Ti. That's Keppler. Reports from Maxwell based cards are much better. The other thing is that I have a multi-media monitor which isn't PC-centric. While that really shouldn't matter much, the fact that my resolutions were the most stupid resolutions ever and didn't correct after having installed the latest drivers might have to do with that. However, the resolutions working as expected under Win8.1 with the same latest drivers (Just not for Win10.) makes me lean towards my Nvidia being obsolete technology.

I do think that the totally borked restore problem is a Microsoft problem though.

Anyway, my 650Ti is a very good card that still has a good time in it before I really need to upgrade to the 900 series. I really don't see a reason to do that yet, especially since my I7 and 32Gb RAM aren't anywhere near needing an upgrade.
