Meet Martin

Here's my new "Pen Pal," Martin!

This big boy  is happy-go-lucky dog that loves to play.  He loves tennis balls, so I've been using them, along with treats to motivate him.  He's learned "sit," and is currenlty working on other commands as well.

He was brought to the shelter by a police officer.  Martin had a large wound on his neck and was bleeding heavily.  Luckily, the vet staff was able to stitch him up and stabilize him.  You can see that the left side of his neck is shaved.  He still has his stitches in, but they should be removed really soon.

He's healing really nicely and my wife took him on a huge walk this past weekend.

He loved his big walk and the car ride!  He tried to stay awake on the ride back to the shelter, but he fell asleep sitting down in the backseat... with his head against our front passenger seat.  :) 

I'll be heading back to the shelter to see him this evening, along with helping a new volunteer with training.

So, it's been awhile since I've been able to stop by 2old2play.  I had the chance to go to Spain for a bit... I couldn't say no to that.  I was locked down at a conference for the majority of the time, but I had a chance to check out the aquarium.  It was a great experience.  BTW if you have a long flight ahead of you and one of your options is British Air, pick them!  The food was good, the seats weren't bad at all and the video screens located directly in front of each seat make a long flight much easier to deal with.

Last but not least, I'm also working with a dog named Halo!  I'll post pictures soon.  She's scared in the shelter, so she walks very slowly, but once she's outside, she starts showing her true colors.  She very affectionate and loves attention!  I figure a few folks out there will love her name... no teabagging please.
