Note to Fathers with Young Girls

Almost everyday I learn a lesson from my daughter and she will be five in March. Last night my wife told me about this.

My daughter is taking dance classes and she has a recital at the end of the month. My wife was talking to her about dance and told my daughter that she had a recital coming up soon. The first thing my daughter said about it was, " I hope daddy brings me another pink rose".

Her last recital was in May or June and the first thing she remembers is the pink rose.

That just re-affirmed to me that your relationship with your daughter starts at a very young age. My Father In Law would have nothing to do with my wife's events. Didn't come watch her play softball, cheer, etc. Her mother MADE him come to her college recitals. That was part of the reason she resented her dad.

I am NOT going to be like my Father In Law. I want to be the dad, that when a boy breaks up with my daughter, she comes running to me for comfort. I want to her to come to me for advice. I want her to love me and not be afraid of me.

If you have young daughters, it is NEVER to early to start. If your family is a broken family, (stuff happens and I am sorry ) then I hope you do everything you can to be with your girl(s). I know son's are important, but a girl NEEDS a father figure. Please do all you can to be with your daughter.

THE SORRY STATE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I'd like to start by thanking all those from this site for all their help in the last few days.

I'd been having some router problems lately so I decided it was time to go for an upgrade since our needs had grown to 3 game systems and 2 computers, I went and purchased a wireless-N gigabit router. I get this thing home and NOTHING I do will allow my gaming systems to connect by wireless signal.biznazz was the first to come to my rescue and had me lower the security setting. Other brothers come to my aid with all logical advice doing nothing. Lastly I gave in and called customer service. Here I am talking to someone in a third-world country trying to make me believe his name is Eric.Did I mention I was on my cell? Smuck could not say the word shit in english if his mouth was full of it. All I could understand was I had to call EACH system and get an ip address. This was not my first rodeo with networks and I'd never had to do it in the past. After 2 more hours passed, I broke down and called xbox only to learn what I already knew. It was the router all the time. I called SISCO, (please remember that name.), again only to get somone else wh did not know english from his ass to start to tell me to x....was all he got out before I hung up. all day wasted and I'll know next month how many minutes of air time. In closing, I'd like to take a moment to address Sisco and other companies who outsource customer service to countries who can't speak our language; YOUR NO GOOD GREEDY JOB STEALING SONS OF UNAMED GOATS, EITHER MAKE SURE THEY UNDERSTAND ENGLISH IF YOUR GONNA SELL YOUR JUNK IN THIS COUNTRY OR TAKE THE PRODUCT AND $^&^&%^&^&^&&*&&*%&^&^&*^^*&*%^&*^&%&))__&&^&^&^&% AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS, BOX AND ALL WITHOUT ANY LUBE AT ALL. THAT IS IF YOU CAN FIND YOUR BACKSIDE. MAYBE THE FLEA'S THAT FALLS OFF YOUR THIRD-WORLD LIMOS CAN ASSIST. PEACE OUT

The economy is freaking me out.

For the totally wrong reasons.  And YES, I will blame it on my Irish heritage because I need some kind of scapegoat for this kind of stupid logic.

If my favorite breweries have to close their doors because of this...how should I put this....ummm...ECONOMICAL TRAIN WRECK, I am gonna one pissed off drunk.  America has come so far in the past 25 years with microbrewing that we are the envy of the beer world in terms of selection and innovation and quality.  Hopefully, some of these breweries can weather the storm because if the land of the free becomes dominated by american light-lagers I won't know what to do.  (Well I know actually, and that is drink them unhappily) Don't get me wrong, there are days when drinking is just a means-to-an-end, but there are many days that I like to just enjoy one or two bottles of good, high-quality beer.  Now Mr. Naysayer, don't tell me I can't tell the difference because I know too much about hop-varieties, barley roasting, esters, phenols, retro-olafaction and umame to be convinced by your weak argument of "it's all the same."  Believe me, it's not all the same.

In conclusion, I should be worried about a mortgage, car payment, rent, health insurance, etc.   and yet I'm worried if I'll be able to get my favorite IPA or imperial stout.  They call 'em vices for a reason.

Here's to you Obama...slainte!

Moving On

I finally reached the point where I'm tired of Fallout 3. I can't begin to count how many hours it's taken, but I'm there. I finished the game (again) last night, pulled the disc out of the drive, and put it back into the stack with the rest of the games.

I was lucky enough to play some Team Fortress 2 with some of the guys from 2old4BS the other night, and had a great time. It's the first chance I've had to try it out. The gameplay is like a Special Ed version of COD: Fewer buttons to worry about, simpler objectives, and just not as intense. It's COD on valium -- just my speed. I stuck with the Pyro and the Heavy, and did all right.

Now I can crack open my shiny new copy of COD5:World at War.....

Its been ages....

Chiristmas has come and gone, New Years is past.  Where does the time fly?  It seems like once Thanksgiving is over the rest of the year is is fast forward around here.  Now things are settling down and I have time for me.  Yeah!

So I've been looking into xbox compatible wireless routers....anyone with some tech advice out there.  I'm moving my 360 to another TV in the house and in order to do that I've got to get a wireless router.  The problem may be that we have two 360's.  Our router now isn't the greatest....it almost always has me or hubby at a strict nat....its a Link Sys BEFSR41.  Which means hard to get into some parties or hard for some people to join me because of the setting.  I'm quite the newbie in this department so any help would be great.

Time to leave you with some Friday funnies!

Happy Friday!

TombRaider Underworld falls way short of Edios sales expectations

DUH... Gamers only have so much time/money and look at the big boys you released against. Lack of sales should be no surprise!  I wanted it too until I saw how many other better games were releasing in the time timeframe.

Last EGM was SF4 cover story

So very sad to see EGM go. Being a gamer for most of my life, EGM and was the source of all things gaming when I was growing up. Only fitting (for me) to see them go out on a bang by releasing their last cover story on-line and of course...its all about Street Fighter 4. Yeah!!!

Photobucket

From the Article: "SF4 essentially breaks down the challenge mode into three main categories -- Time Attack, Survival, and Trial. It then separates each of these categories into two difficulty levels, normal and hard -- each setting has its own number of challenges. When you complete the individual challenges on either difficulty setting, you unlock rewards that range from extra colors and actions for each character to titles and icons that you can display with your player profile in online matches.
Of course, the Time Attack and Survival modes are pretty self-explanatory (you earn extra time based on your performance in the Time Attack mode -- or, in the case of Survival mode, health). But the Trial mode's pretty interesting -- it actually teaches you to play SF4 by making you complete specific combos for each character. A challenge with Blanka asks you to jump in with a heavy kick, follow it up with a crouching medium kick and a light punch, and then finish it up with a heavy rolling attack. This mode's a great way for newcomers to learn how to play effectively. "
