Hooray for Patches!

Finally somebody decided to come out with a patch for Ninja Gaiden II to fix the previous patch. I had quit playing because of the freezes the last patch caused.

So I started on Mentor and promptly got stomped. I've heard after you get past the first four chapters it gets easier, but I don't know if I have the patience to find out. I'm hoping once I level up my weapons it will get "easier."

While I was taking a break from NG2 I fired up COD4 and did pretty well in multiplayer. I was expecting to go negative, but I actually turned in a couple of good rounds in team deathmatch. Of course next time I play I'll go 3-20 or something like that. Such is life.

Ninja Gaiden II

Picked up Ninja Gaiden II for father's day, and it was as fun as I hoped it would be. Got through Acolyte and Warrior without too much trouble, but I'm waiting to tackle Mentor until this patch thing gets sorted out.

Until then I'll be playing a little Forza 2 and Marvel UA, since I didn't play them at all until recently. I forgot how fun Forza was, and I really like both of the X-Men Legends games. Definitely a change of pace from the limb hacking fun of NG2.

COD4 and Prestige

Finally got the new maps the day after they came out. I'd like to see the statistics for the servers that the maps were on and Xbox Live in general. I couldn't even add MS points to my account, and even if I could have I wouldn't have been able to get to the maps.

I've seen several people complaining that the new maps are a waste of money, and I respectfully disagree. I would say they're probably not the most fun for straight up team deathmatch, but I really enjoyed playing objective games on them. I had a hilarious kill on S&D on Broadcast. Planted the bomb at B, put a C4 on it, then went prone in the room across from the AV room. The last guy ran in right past me, and I thought about shooting him but blew him up with the C4 instead. Hopefully gave my teammates a laugh.

In other COD4 news, I was at level 54 when the new maps came out, and decided to take advantage of the double XP and go ahead and prestige. I'm currently at level 20 having only played for a couple of hours. The first game I played after prestiging I went up 5 or 6 levels. Thanks double XP!

After prestiging, I'll have to admit that the M16 is pretty ridiculous. 1 on target burst with stopping power = you're dead. I try to make it a little bit more difficult by just using the iron sights, but it's pretty much a beast.

Downloaded Ikaruga last night, wow that game is hard. Hopefully I'll have a little bit more success than I do with Geometry Wars.

1000/1000 COD4

I finally got the last achievement to give me 100% on COD4. I had to play through Charlie Don't Surf 4 or 5 times to shoot all the TVs. I don't know what I did to be more magical the last time, but it worked.

Now I can get back to playing multiplayer and getting up to 55. Not sure if I want to prestige or not, but I probably will since I like completing challenges. I might even like completing challenges more than actually playing. I've gotten most of the weapon challenges except for snipers and headshots, don't really have a lot of interest in getting the headshot ones just yet. Some of the more obscure challenges I don't think I'll even try for.

Got a indoor soccer game tonight, luckily sore muscles won't affect gaming.

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword

Picked up my reserved copy of Ninja Gaiden: DS Wednesday evening. I've only played through the first couple of chapters, but so far it's been quite enjoyable.

Holding the DS like a book is not bad at all considering you really only use the stylus, with an occasional hold of the D-pad to block. The action is just as fast as you'd expect, and the only negative so far is not being able to see all the action when you're getting busy with the stylus.

A must buy if you like Ninja Gaiden or action DS games. I'm looking forward to giving it a full review once I (hopefully) get through it.
