Xbox Live Outages All Over US?

2old2play has received emails from many of its members stating that their "Live" service has been down for several hours as of 09/21/06. Is TGS to blame?

With the 2006 TGS in full swing and Microsoft delivering yet another "Bring It Home" media blitz, could all that bandwidth be to much for MS to handle? The similar E3 event saw over 24 million downloads for the Live Marketplace with several demos and trailers released all at once.

In similar fashion, the Tokyo Game Show has seen many new addition to the Live Market Place which could cause for a lot of traffic. The biggest difference could be that the Live network has continued to grow since E3 this summer and hyped games like Gears of War, Splinter Cell, and F.E.A.R. have reached a feverish pitch.

In any case the outages do not seem to affect everyone although I can say 2old2play has already received 6 emails, 5 PMs, and several blog posts about the outages. One such blogger was told by a service rep that he was "experiencing a temporary service outage bubble in his area." Apparently the rep had recieved several similar Xbox Live error codes that day, but could not say why. 2old2play is currently trying to contact Microsoft for a comment and we'll update this page as we receive word.

It's no doubt due to extreme load of their 'bringing it home' program. Given that they're not really releasing that much i dont' think, i can only imagine what it'll be like next week for X06. Thankfully i'm not playing multiplayer games at the moment, but i noticed a few times i got kicked off of Live aware tonight.

i clocked out of work and when i got home a checked to see what was new to DL.. only it said "error 80000845" or something similar.. Chrome hounds was also quite slow today.. but that is expected seeing as how a war was just ended so everyone is jumping on to switch countries... add that to all the DL from TGS... eh, it will be over soon.

i logged on last night and i've never seen so many customs going at once on halo!, i went in to MM and got a game then found out others were having problems tryed going in again and kept getting booted all the time:-(.
And is it just me?, but Bungie *the site* seems to be down as well as of 21st 7pm GMT, seems there is a network password problem??

Well the xbox website was down all day yesterday you couldnt see other peoples achievement etc.
Halo 2 was slow in matching up with the occasional error no matches found at this time.
Test drive unlimited was so slow when starting a game you kept thinking it had crashed.
A lot of people sigs on here were not working due to xbox being down so would have say its more than just my area lol.

My bet is that it is a combination of the TGS downloads and people using there camera for video chat that is overloading the system.

Last night, for about an hour, I couldn't race any ranked races. So I went over to the unranked races and everything worked fine. I got bored playing cat and mouse, so back to the ranked matches. Same problem, power cycled the 360, tried again and it worked.

Don't know if it was related, but I usually have 8 - 11 XBL friends on at any given time.

Last night when I signed on, I had 19 friends on!

Also, most friends were in chromehounds. Since the war started over last night, could have been a lot of country migrations, new parts purchases, etc going on.

We definitely noticed longer times to receive Mission Complete messages and what not in the online lobby's.
