The Xbox 360 Elite Dated and Priced

by doodirock| Published: Wednesday, March 28 @ 02:51:12 EDT
Looks like all the rumors were true. The new Black Xbox 360 Elite will make its debut April 29th for $479 dollars in both US and Canada. On10 sat down with Albert Penello, one of the key creators to talk about all the new features in a one on one video. So far it looks like all the speculation was spot on. There will be an HDMI port with cable included as well as a 120gig hard drive with transfer cable. They also decided to make sure both the headset and control match the new system with an equally cool black matte finish. Check out the vid.

From The Site

Elite Console

Xbox 360 Elite is equipped with a premium black finish and three powerful core processors capable of producing the best in high-definition entertainment, full surround sound, HDMI output, and DVD playback with upscaling capabilities right out of the box.

120GB Hard Drive

The huge 120GB detachable hard drive is the largest available on any console. It lets you save your games and store television shows, movies, music, pictures, trailers, extra game levels, demos, and other content available from Xbox Live Marketplace.

Black Wireless Controller

The sleek black finish of this high-performance wireless controller matches the style of the Elite Console. It has a range of up to 30 feet and a battery life of 30 hours on two AA batteries.

So what do you think? Is it worth it? Personally I wouldn't mind the HDMI, but other then that I think $180 for a 120gig hard drive is down right insane.

It's a tough choice for me because I want a ps3 for the blu-ray player and as a bonus I get a ps3 :). But I also want a black 360...it's gonna be a tough choice. I'll see how much the 120 gig HD is and if it's close to 200 bucks which I can see because if a 20 gig is a 100 I can only imagine a 120 gigs price tag. If that's the case i'm gonna try and get a black one.

Remember it is a laptop hdd. I see bare 120gig hdd for $120 on an online store. You local best buy is going to sell it for more. Then add on an external enclosure, remember the 360 hdd is external, that's another $30. Then the cable and software to transfer data.

It's a little over priced, but not by much.

I want it. But I might wait until the new proc is out.

I think its a joke they rushed out the 360 to get a headstart on the PS3 and i bet this is what they were originally aiming for?

I would stick with the option of a PS3 at Blu Ray is way out selling the HD-DVD 2-1 or some reports havie it at 3-1?

Its funny though everyone was saying how teh PS3 was far too expensive but it was working out way more value for money now if you get this as well as your original 360 your mad

You know the main reason why they shrink dies? So they can make more chips fit on a wafer and produce more for less $$$.

Yes, they run cooler but that means little since you can't overclock your 360. Thats very freaking sad that people think this is worth getting excited over..."Hey, less heat means my 360 won't break! Yay!".

Your 360 shouldn't break. Its a real problem that they are at the high rate. Its a disgrace and a failure which was a sacrifice they made to get out first. Now that this will likely have less of them fail due to heat issues only, its worth buying a 2nd?

There's also the logic that if you have a cooler processor the fans don't have to push as much air. I fthe fans don;t push as much air they don't need to turn as fast. If they don't turn as fast they will be quieter. That's the whole reason PC users put 120mm fans in place of 80mm, they turn slower which makes them quieter.
