Team Fortress 2: Pyro Update

by Jonah Falcon| Published: Wednesday, June 18 @ 16:06:47 EDT

If you enjoyed the Gold Rush update for Team Fortress 2 with its new medic weapons, maps, and Achievements, rejoice, for the Pyro update does the same thing - except for the Pyro class.

There are two new maps, a CTF map called “Turbine” that takes place inside a factory, and a Control Point map called “Fastlane”, a symmetrical map with numerous indoor routes and large outdoor arenas.

The new Pyro weapons include the Flare Gun (think pyro version of the sniper rifle), the Pyroburner (which adds 50 health to the pyro and makes every hit a critical hit), and Axtinguisher (which gives critical hits to anyone on fire.) As with the Gold Rush update, to get the new weapons, you must get a certain number of Achievements as a Pyro, which is a nifty way to both reward longtime Pyros and to entice people into trying the class.

My favorite?

Pilot Light: Ignite a rocket-jumping Soldier while he’s in midair.

No word on the 360 version yet.

As always if you want to get in on the TF2 PC action, head on over to the Valve Forums on 2old2play to learn more about our dedicated server!

"No word on the 360 version yet"

It pisses me off how they have totally ignored the 360 version of this game. No new maps, no updates, no word on when or if they are ever going to put anything out for the 360. Thanks a lot Valve..... for nothing!

but TF2 is a PC FPS. Halo 3 is a console FPS. We all knew from the getgo that Valve was releasing the Orange Box for the 360 as a novelty. I play TF2 on the PC, and keep with console FPS's on the 360.

They did not ignore the 360 version. 360 still got the Gold Update. Sheesh. Chill.

I guess I missed the Gold update news, you should've put a link up that directed me to gamestooge then back to here then to Valve's homepage.

I'm still confused, but I' don't know where to get the Gold Rush update for 360. Can you tell me where to get this "supposed" update because I don't think it exists for the 360. I looked for it tonight but didn't see it and any help is appreciated. Thanks.

to quote Jonah" They did not ignore the 360 version. 360 still got the Gold Update. Sheesh. Chill."

Well I put the disk in just now and it had an update, but it doesn't seem to be the Gold Rush update. There are no new maps or medic weapons in the game and it's just as laggy as ever.

So I'll stick with my original post " Thanks for nothing Valve"!!!

The Gold Rush update you have to go to Marketplace to download.

Am I a total moron (don't answer that) or am I the only one who can't find the Gold Rush update for the 360? Yes I have looked in Marketplace.
I'm really not trying to argue with you Jonah, I'm just saying I can't find the update nor can I find news of the update for the 360 anywhere.

If there is a Gold Rush update for the 360 they sure are hiding it very well from me. So either I'm blind or you are wrong..one or the other. 8)

Yeah I looked as well last night when I read here that the Gold Rush map was out for 360 but it's nowhere to be found. It kinda sucks but I still really enjoy this game a lot and don't mind playing 2fort over and over again.

Buzz, yeah, it sucks. I think part of the problem is Valve is making a lot of changes quickly. There's been a bunch of updates for the PC version. I think the 360 will get an update but it will be after they finish putting these additions in. I think the 360 will get a massive update. They are currently changing the game too quickly to go through certification.

This is why I went with the PC version. 1) you don't need a monster PC to play it, it uses the HL2 engine. 2) It's Valve, there iwll be tons of user created content. 3) It's on Steam. Steam is to PC as Live is to Xbox.

This game shines on the pc but is mediocre at best on the 360.Don't blame valve they are great at making pc games and did the console world a favor porting HL2.

Buzz,

Sounds like John... could stand to do some research before posting.

I'm with you on the frustration with Valve in your original post. If they want to port a game from PC to 360, fine, then support it. If you are only launching it as a novelty - then stating up front that it's not going to get the kind of support one might expect on the PC would be kind. It would set expectations.

You might lose some up front customers by making such a disclosure, but you won't piss the community off by remaining silent on the topic and then losing customers long term because you created some animosity with unmet expectations.

I hear you buzz,

Tac
