Recent Interview Reveals Halo 3 Four Player Co-op

by Devin Grimes| Published: Saturday, July 14 @ 20:04:07 EDT

First details of Halo 3’s co-operative campaign were leaked months ago once gamers started peeking around the code of the Halo 3 Beta. Now one Microsoft exec. accidentally confirmed these rumors of four player co-op in a recent interview with Xbox.com.

One of Halo 2’s most enjoyable aspects involved the ability to play two player co-operative play on split-screen, and now Bungie looks to be doubling your fun with support for up to four players on LIVE!. Speaking to Major Nelson, Vice President of Global Marketing for Microsoft Jeff Bell issued the following statement:

Why I became such a Halo fanboy in the first place was the co-operative play. My 18-year-old and I, we played together, and rather than playing against each other, we had to learn to play as a team, and to have some strategy and be able to engage that game….etc…Now, I’m really looking forward to playing with my three sons, all together on Halo 3.

Whoopsie!

Sounds like a mis-interpretation to me....

He could mean the multiplayer, and not necessarily coop...myself, I'll wait for OFFICIAL confirmation from the devs.

If true, with a good crew the difficulty level would have to be Heroic or Legendary to present even a little bit of a challenge, you know?

The rumor is true. I heard it out of Jeff Bell's mouth last week at the e3 party! 4-player co-op over XBL...Woot!

One problem with your article, and I quote:

"One of Halo 2’s most enjoyable aspects involved the ability to play two player co-operative play either on Live, or split-screen, and now Bungie looks to be doubling your fun with support for up to four players."

The misprint here is that there was no co-op mode over Live in Halo 2, that's the reason it's so demanded now.

How do you "accidentally" leak info on an XBOX game on the official XBOX website? I think the word leak is a little of an overstatement.

In some screenshots, you can see a green arrow over the Arbiter. The green arrow probably indicates a co-op teammate.

I know this may seem cool to some who want to blow through the campaign acheivements with 3 other people. Its all about the social party now with Halo it seems. Halo CE ruled and made Halo famous on single player. Hope Bungie didnt forget that. But the direction most of the fanbase seems to be going is multiplayer.
