RUMOR: GoldenEye to Xbox Live Arcade?

Joystiq is reporting the ultrahot rumor that the classic N64 shooter GoldenEye may be coming to Xbox Live Arcade.

Resting their cred on “very reliable sources” and evidence that they claim to have seen, Xbox Evolved is reporting that Nintendo 64 classic GoldenEye will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade shortly before Activision (the current 007 IP holder) releases their new James Bond title. The news comes (according to the site) after an agreement between Microsoft, Rareware, MGM Studios and Activision. XE says the game will feature new graphics and online multiplayer, and that other Rare games may be in the pipeline like Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark.

Are you excited over a prospect of an updated GoldenEye? It seems to me that an online component would make this game a must have for any older gamer. How many of you can recall late night sessions of multiplayer with your buddies? I know I can

That got me hooked on multiplayer shooters. It would be freaking sweet t o have it available on the 360. It may not live up to the fond memories I have of it however.

I think it wont be exciting as it was back in the day. Now you can play all sorts of fps games. That was the first console multi-player I can think of.

Although some techies will cite to other games as the birth of FPS's on console, I think that for me (a person who never really gamed on a PC), this is the game that turned me on for Halo, GR, RB6 and the rest of them ... this is the game that opened up the masses to FPS

Now that does bring back some memories.. I tried to somewhat simulate that with Perfect Dark Zero and the downloadable maps they offered.. wasn't the same though.

that's what would make me happy. i have the N64 hooked up in the kids' room and threw this in a couple months ago. as much as i loved goldeneye back when, it's damn near impossible for me to get into using the four yellow buttons to look around.

so hell yeah! (if it's true) this one definitely needs a comeback.

The way to play the game is to switch the controls so the yellow buttons control where you run and the analog stick controls where you look/aim.

They would make more money with the old Perfect Dark than with the new one that flopped. The only reason I bought the new one was I thought it would be like the original in multiplayer. Maybee they can put the Farsight XR-20 in halo 3. HA HA.....

love this game. and with a third of the world having seen at least one of the 007 movies should be a big hit. i can't wait to see how smooth the game play will be and to be able to play against other peeps with a full screen, woot woot.
