Next Halo Game an MMOFPS?

by jonahfalcon| Published: Thursday, October 25 @ 15:09:00 EDT

The latest rumor surrounding the unrevealed Peter Jackson game is that it will be an MMOFPS. You know, a massively multiplayer online first person shooter, like PlanetSide and the upcoming Tabula Rasa and Huxley.

Sandwiched within’ the pages of the December issue of EGM is a new Halo rumor stating that either the Peter Jackson project or Bungie’s next gaming venture could be a FPS MMO. EGM’s rumor mole received special “word” that Microsoft is already busy creating a FPS MMO for the Xbox 360 and that it is tied to Bungie in some way. If one were to take the rumor further, one could speculate that the hush, hush Peter Jackson project or Bungie’s post Halo 3 project could end up being the rumored MMO.

Since one of the 1Up ex-editors now works for Bungie, maybe some - as Tony Reali would say it - “Inside in-fo-MAY-shun”?

(Thanks, Xbox 360 Fanboy.)

They should just go ahead and name it "World of Timmies Online" and get it over with.

If it is even remotely true then 2o2p would just have a "Guild" of their own. 2o2p already has 3 WoW guilds made up entirely of 2o2p members.

and they all rock, and are filled with great 2o2p members.

On a Halo note, didn't Halo start off, at least in concept, as a free range, multiplayer game for the Mac? It would make sense, given the technological advancements in the last several years, that Bungie's original vision simply couldn't be achieved at that time. Alot has changed since then.

That would be great even though I haven't a clue how that works lol...never played any PC games online like that...only web based games at pogo.com

A fully explorable Halo construct, exterior and interior, with Human, Covenant, and Flood controlled areas, and everything else would be contested territory, would be a blast. Spartans & Covenant missions for key areas, roving bands of Flood threaten both sides, sounds like a hoot to me.

Halo originally started out as a RTS. What Halo Wars is.

I think it might be cool. Just hope they put some real time into it and make it good and not just use the Halo name to make a buck.

I hope not, I love playing Halo but I hate online world games. Not because they're bad but because they always get boring after a while and they suck away your life once you're addicted to them. I have a 4 year old daughter and I don't want to miss a moment of her life because I'm addicted to an online world game. Life is too short.

They want to make more money.

Rumor has it, and I hope thats all it is, they are making KOTOR an MMO as well.

And guess what, don't expect a normal multiplayer Halo with the campaign to come out for a while anytime around this. Why? Because it would compete directly with their own product and monthly fees are where $$$ is.

175mil on the first day is chump coin compared to what Blizzard pulls on a consistant basis. People with dollar signs for eyeballs are no doubt thinking Halo is big enough for it. I think they over estimate how many are willing to pay $15+ a month extra on top of XBL fees.

They suck... Planetside did improve, but not enough. Tabula Rasa, even tho they pulled it from Gold to work on it.. isnt good (but its more RPG then FPS) and Huxley doesnt look that good anymore... when was the last bit of info we had on Huxley? 18 months ago?

but any Halo project will be on Xbox and maybe PC.. who ever said PC only go smoke some crack lol.. MS is more behind Xbox.. and Halo is a seller of systems

I don't believe the world needs another blood sucking MMO.

I actually fear it's possible creation. I like the Halo world but I especially like it the way it is now. I can walk away from it because the draw is more fun than addiction.

Seeing and reading how people get addicted to MMO game types is very scary.
