New Call Of Duty 4 Maps On the Way

by stang503421| Published: Monday, February 04 @ 19:28:50 EST

FourZeroTWo, the Community Relations spokesman for Infinity Ward, released a statement on his blog today that states that new maps for Call of Duty 4 will be released at some time this Spring. The maps will be available for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox360 as Downloadable Content. The price or number of maps to be released has yet to be determined.

While new maps are always welcome, some have expressed their frustration that the map pack release news comes at a time where the Call of Duty community still awaits a patch to resolve lag, hit detection, and party issues. This patch is not yet in the hands of Microsoft Certification.

Infinity Ward released a "design a map" contest two weeks ago for PC gamers and has stated that it may offer some of the community-designed maps on consoles at a later point. These community-designed maps are seperate from the DLC maps mentioned today in FourZeroTwo's blog.

FourZeroTwo has urged the community to reply to his blog to suggest map types for the IW team to consider, so make sure to leave a comment on his blog with what YOU think would be the perfect Cod4 map.

Leave a comment here and let the 2old2play community know what you think as well. Snow maps? Larger maps? Night

New maps whew hewww! Lag and hit detection are many times better than most online games. The maps that are currently available are VERY well done and are extremely well thought out. How many times have you been on top of something and saw a piece of debris fly by and thought it may be an enemy....or was amazed to get a lucky scope shot on a unsuspecting enemy because their was a 1 inch opening? I am really looking forward to these maps!!

spring...WTF....the way EA does crap that will mean mid summer.

It is almost like they were totally unprepared for this game to be popular, and want to put the most basic amount of manpower behind it to keep it fresh, or fix the problems with the game.

Thanks EA for not giving a crap..

Wasn't COD4 an Activision game?

But I agree with the point that the maps are too late. By then I'm sure I will have moved on to the next shooter.

dont kid yourself, i like COD 4 enough, despite the lattency issues, but next month Rainbow Six 2 comes out as well as my most anticipated game release...Army of 2. I think the next 2 months will give developers enough time to fix COD, but by that time most will have forgotten about it.

What ever and when ever it is, Im in, I cant wait for the new DLC and the patch, I really like this game and I will be on it for a long time, seeing as how I am not all that great at it. Even if it comes out when R6V2 comes out , ill get that too.

I love the feel and play of this game, but without a patch soon, it will burn me out with some of its problems. Battlefield-BC I was hoping woud arrive soon, but now means delayed until fiscal year 2009 puts me looking at the new Rainbow6 to save me. I fear the patch will come with the new maps, which may be well too late for me...we'll see.

I like the game itself. But there is nothing more frustrating than being in the middle of a great kill streak, planting the bomb, and getting disconnected. Makes me want to whip the disk out my front door. If they don't fix it soon thats whats going to end up happening.

I know COD4 has some "issues" like the hit detection when sniping and periodic match making issues (North America and the Brits in a lag game) but for the most part I have had very few issues. I think a lot of that is because I have quite a bit of bandwidth and end up being the host.

There is some frustration over the amount of time it takes IW to get patches out. I don't understand how they continue to repeat the problems of the past. This does seem like COD2 all over again but then again, with BadBug and Me hosting lag free games by "tweaking" our internet connections it was never an issue for me.

I'll keep playing this as long as you guys are around. If I have to venture to timmie land I'll pick something else up.

I'm still looking forward to RB 6.2 but I won't be ditching COD4 for a while, I'll just enjoy the game more with the patch...and new maps..
