Neversoft Takes Over Guitar Hero 3

GameDaily BIZ has received an insider tip that Guitar Hero publisher Harmonix will not develop the next installment of Guitar Hero. Instead that honor would fall in the hands of Tony Hawk Pro Skater developer, Neversoft. Obviously both camps have responded with a standard, "no comment," but a quick click over to the Neversoft website shows a large ad that reads, "Positions Available" for Guitar Hero.

Clicking on the ad seems to take you to Neversoft's standard hiring page, but there is no doubt that the company is creating something for the Guitar Hero franchise. The real question is why? After 2 blockbuster games from Harmonix, why would RedOctane suddenly decide to go with Neversoft? We'll just have to wait and see.

This could mean Drummer Hero might come or they want to put some more life in to the series. Harmonix might have been getting bored with doing GH

Forgot that MTV bought Harmonix... RedOctane owns GH, RO is owned by Activision.. cheaper to keep it in house..

Neversoft may have better licensing deals and connections with the music industry. The Tony Hawk games have always had killer soundtracks.

The hiring page shows they're looking for a playstation 3 guy.

I'm a little confused at what all the parties involved with this title do. Harmonix is the developer but both Redoctane and Activision are listed as publishers. Why does a game need 2 publishers? I assume then that Neversoft will take Harmonix place but redoctane and activision may still remain in the picture.

Harmonix is no longer the dev because they were bought by MTV

Activision owns Redoctane so its really just 1 publisher
