Halo 3: From Foundry to Soccer Stadium

by Devin Grimes| Published: Friday, December 07 @ 18:18:40 EST

Take a look at just how far the new map pack can take Halo 3's Forge mode in the up coming release. Soccer anyone?

Since Halo 3′s launch, we’ve seen countless user creations and gameplay variants via the game’s Forge mode — everything from football to a future rendition of the infamous Normandy beach landing — that have done quite a bit to significantly lengthen the gaming community’s enjoyment of Halo multiplayer. The impending map pack update looks to further spark the creativity of those willing to put some elbow grease into Forge with Foundry — a level built specifically for the mode.

Bungie Community Manager Brian Jarrard just put up an excellent guide that demonstrates how you can take the standard box-and-crate-filled landscape of Foundry, and turn it into a gravity hammer filled fiesta of a soccer arena. It’s worth a look if you’re interested in learning more about the possibilities that lie in what is looking to be Halo’s most customizable map ever.

PC gamers have been able to create some awesome custom maps for awhile now.Its good to see some of that coming into console gaming.I still play HL2 death match and it is unbelievable the work and creativity that can go into custom maps. Its almost like getting a completely new game. Some of the new custom portal pc maps have been crazy!

Thats like with H2 modding. Not the cheating asshats but the awesome modders that made completely new maps or changed old ones enough that they seemed completely new. I probably played on about 200 Halo 2 maps and it was awesome.

I'm really interested to see what UT3 is like on PS3 since I'm thinking of getting that. But for now, Halo 3 is friggen awesome and I think foundry will be a blast in that you get to alter just about everything, or so I hear.
