Guitar Hero 3: Multi-player Ready

by CodeMonkey| Published: Monday, April 16 @ 11:54:23 EDT
The upcoming Guitar Hero 3 will be multi-player capable. Perhaps we'll be shredding with our friends list on this revision...

Not only will GH3 be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and the Wii - it will be multi-player ready! Red Octane has confirmed this “rumor” that the third spin of GH3 will have some multi-player capabilities.

It's not yet fully understood what the capabilities for online play will be, but it's supposed to be something that's not a cheap "leaderboard" system. Games with leaderboards continue to call themselves Xbox Live capable but is that really "live" play?

Shredding with friends, battling against rivals or any other online play type will be difficult with split second timing on many solos so we're not exactly sure how they'll pull it off. Multi-player is important to grow a community around your game but it must be done correctly. If multi-player turns into a patch fest of bugs and inaccuracies it could turn you off faster than a Jazz festival featuring a speed metal guitarist.

We're a community of older gamers that love to connect with friends to play - single player isn't our thing. Would you invest in a multi-player guitar hero game?

Playing co-op in GHII is an absolute blast, so having the ability online with GHIII will be a welcome addition. I'll be getting it for sure.

This means there won't be a multiplayer patch for GHII.

It wouldn't be hard to do multiplayer. DDR has been doing it for years.

There's a chance they'll use the current GHII that is out for a beta test environment for the capabilities. Least we can hope so...

I have been waiting for GH2 to makes it's way to the 360. And the day it came out I rushed to the closest GameStop and picked up my copy and there was much rejoicing. Simply put...I love GH2. And I am very happy to hear about GH3 coming to the 360 as well. But I have mixed fillings regarding GH3. I just bought GH2 and now you're telling me that the next one is coming out in October. That information I could've use two weeks ago! I just plopped down $90 for GH2. And a newer version with all the "on-line" bells and whistles will come out 6 months later. Come On People!!!

You might say, "Loot, you're over reacting." And maybe I am. All I have to say is the controller for GH2 better work on GH3. Which I think it will since they said it would with the new "Rockband" game. That way I can just purchase the GH3 game disk.

I look at it this way...at least you will have practise for when v3 comes out, plus you will have an additional controller.

It's must buy. Is it October yet?
