Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock

by codemonkey| Published: Monday, October 08 @ 22:14:56 EDT
It could just be Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock could be the next hottest franchise aside from Halo 3. The prior Guitar Hero titles have been hugely popular and each one builds more momentum, GH3 shouldn't be much different. Here are all the goodies...

First, the gameplay video...

Along side this great gameplay video we've got some of the screenshots and equipment you'll be gaming with come October 28th, 2007.

Xbox 360 Guitar

PS2 Guitar

PS3 Guitar

Nintendo Wii Guitar

The screenshots between the games don't look too different comparing the Xbox 360 to the Wii, althougth the Wii does look a bit grittier:

Overall, the game does look a bit more clean than the prior releases (graphically), their really going for a homerun with this title...

Anyone getting this at launch? Looks pretty cool.

Rock Band is a maybe, but that's more of a "180 bucks and where do I put a plastic drum kit in my living room" kinda "maybe".

Do you need the new guitar, or can you use the old guitar on the PS2 version? (or the 360 version for that matter)

Seems kinda lame to have 3 games that use one set of guitars and one more of the same series that uses a different set of guitars. :p

I believe that all of the guitar games can use guitar controllers interchangably. I don't think that the controllers work cross-platform, though.

If you go to the manufactures website you will see that they sell an adaptor to the guitar that will allow you to play it on the 360 for $20 - $30.

I'm already kind of tired of Halo 3 so this would be a great addition to the collection. I don't own any of the other GH games, but EVERY time I go to Best Buy I play GH and I am actually pretty good. My wife thinks it's really stupid so I'll have to convince her that it's worth the $90 or so. Seems to be the thing to do at parties and get togethers because the last New Years party I went to at a friend's house had people jammin all night long on that thing.

Gotta get something besides Halo for my new XBox. My PS2 guitars have been around since launch day of GH1 (knew this game would be HUGE), so I think it's time to move on to next gen, and that'll give me an excuse to get Rock Band for XBox as well.

Greatest thing about Rock Band, it works with GH2/GH3 controllers, since Activision said GH3 controllers work with GH2 and visa versa, and EA said Rock Band works with GH2 controllers, ergo, the GH3 controllers will work as well, woot!

Rock Band also works with standard Karaoke Revolution microphones as well, so all I really need to get is the game and the drum kit for the whole set!

If you're gonna get one, you MIGHT AS WELL get the other. Ask your boss for some overtime this weekend, or BETTER yet, start an actual band and get some gigs on the weekends. :)

I've pre-ordered. Even though I have 2 guitars for GH2, I'll be getting the third with this one. It just looks too damn cool not to.

I've never owned any of the previous GH series. I played GH2 at a friends house a few months ago and got hooked.

It's different and will actually get company/wife involved a little bit. Not everyone who stops in wants to get fragged, but who doesn't want to rock out? I've pre-ordered and am eagerly waiting.
