CoD4: Official Beta Date - There Is None

You see the date stamp on CoD4 beta on xbox.com listing 8/17, that's not the date of the games beta release as some people seem to be expecting. Updated

If you are curious about the Call of Duty 4 Beta and when it is going to be released your interest might have peaked a bit if you saw the update to Xbox.com in the marketplace information area today (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/marketplace/ticker.htm).

This information however, is not the release date of the beta it is merely stating that the beta will be available for download through the marketplace in the near future.

We recently spoke with a representative for Activision who said, “There has been no official statement about the release date from Activision at this time. However it will be soon so be on the lookout for the more information shortly.”

On Xbox.com you will also read that the download of the beta will be free. This is true however the representative for Activision confirmed that, “There are a limited number of spots available in the beta, and you will need a “token” to be able to play.”

So for all of you out there that read the information on Xbox.com don’t get your hopes up for a release of the beta for COD 4 just "yet." You can, however, download two videos from Marketplace on the game but you won't be getting any game play time from it.

[update] after speaking with Microsoft they've confirmed and pulled the listing on xbox.com. Show's over, there's nothing to see here. They apologized for any confusion.

[update2] Shortly after MS pulled the update and told us it was mistake, charlieoscardelta.com has went down for some "upgrade" maintenance. Interesting huh. We thought so too. Maybe KOD4 beta is a lot closer then we thought..... Stay tuned.
