BioWare: Working On PS3 Title?

by CodeMonkey| Published: Thursday, March 15 @ 11:47:39 EDT
How important are exclusives again? Bioware, typically working on PC games and now Xbox 360 games, has decided to work the PlayStation 3 angle as well...

Typically, Bioware builds PC games. Their two upcoming titles, Dragon Age (PC) and Mass Effect (360) are two titles for Microsofts camp.

In January, it was rumored that Bioware was working on a PlayStation 3 title, but nothing could be confirmed. However it seems now that Bioware is indeed working on some PS3 title.

We've yet to clear up what that title will be but it won't be for a Microsoft platform - that's known. Other speculation says that Bioware is using this tactic to help bring about a Microsoft acquisition of the company in order to keep them Microsoft-specific.

Would that help or hinder Bioware in future game titles? It is unclear. What else is unclear? Why anyone is speculating this acquisition rumor at all without any real facts. It does bring up a good point of discussion...

Would it be cheaper to purchase a company straight out over buying the rights for a specific title as an exclusive? An exclusive title will is a "win" situation for that title but now you must pony up more cash to keep other future titles from a popular development studio on your platform. If you buy them - all titles are yours to have (i.e. Bungie Studios).

If this is what BioWare wants i see nothing wrong most game makers are devloping titles for all next gen. systems. I see this as a good thing if one company goes all exclusive on one platform than the company will lose its objective on what games they can make and we will see more of sequels on games that never should be made but because BioWare may want an exclusive deal with Microsoft they may feel that the 360 may have a better foothold than the PS3 or that in the future PS3 may become anthor Sega Dream Cast. In any event Bioware has a lot of great games under there belt and i hope to see a new Jade Empire game for the 360.

isnt working well with bioware (investment firm) and rumors are Bioware wants MS to buy them from this Investment firm and this might be away to force MS in that direction.

Personally Bioware working on 360 as an exclusive IMO is the best, but if they do a PS3 game, that is fine as well..

That makes alot of sense... (Score: 1)

...you know people are saying, "why the hell would a great game Company want to be purchased be teh eViL M$!!?".

Probably a better deal. Besides, you are from the same town as Bioware. You probably had a few bottles of Moose Piss a.k.a. Molson with someone.

Bioware makes western games and always has. It benefits them to be owned by a the Xbox and PC people. Where their games thrive.
