You guys said you prefer dollar amounts instead of MS Points on the XBox Live Marketplace. One nice thing with MS Points over actual dollar amounts on the Live Marketplace is that you can find deals on MS Points--such as BOGO sales on XBox Accessories, or percentage and dollar-off coupons at stores like BestBuy and Toys R Us. This allows you to get a deal on ANYTHING on their site, and not just the deal of the week, etc.

This is easily solvable with the standardized "Gift Card" and "Redeeming Codes" that exist in most online stores...heck, most real stores now. From Wal-mart to iTunes, this is a proven technology.

A code can be bound to all styles of discounts from "free game" (of some max price), a percentage off a specific thing or anything in their store or a code bound to a specific product for a dollar amount off, percentage or whatever.

So, perhaps I sell GTA and with every copy you get a code/coupon given to you when you buy (or in the box depending on who's promoting it) for 10% off GTA DLC or whatever.

The code infrastructure exists today in Microsoft Live Marketplace.

If you really want to give someone 100 MS points 'free' in a promotion, just give them a "gift card" with $1.25 credit on it that they can use towards a purchase like normal stores do. It works on anything in the store.
