EA Sports supporting our troops with the gift of Madden 2010

Being a Navy veteran myself, I just had to share this with anyone that may have missed it.  I will quote the article here but please check the link out to Digg and share it with anyone you think might enjoy it.  I have a lot of respect for EA Sports after what they did for Tailgate365.com and its members.

On August 14, 2009 the Madden 2010 will hit the shelves and the thousands of gamers and football fans alike who have put it on reserve will be able to pick it up and spend all day and night perfecting the next version of the all-favorite sports game.

Unfortunately for a few Tailgate365.com members, that day comes after they leave on deployment with no connection to the outside world. See, these guys live on a submarine for months at a time, protecting our rights. Rights to keep on playing Madden till our fingers hurt and our eyes cry for sleep. These sailors, with not much to do, literally under water, spend all of their time eating, working, sleeping and of course, gaming.

But thanks to EA Sports and their commitment to our troops, they will get underway with a copy of the latest version of Madden.

"We are supremely grateful for the dedication and hard work that the troops provide
to our country on a daily basis. It is an honor to give them an opportunity to
enjoy their downtime with Madden NFL 10,"
said EA Sports spokesperson, Rob Semsey.

Already game in hand, these sailors will be able to enjoy what the rest of us will wait until August 14th to try. From all the members at Tailgate365.com, we thank EA Sports and Media Frenzy Communications for getting our members a much appreciated pre-release of this game. We too support our troops and support them in as many ways as possible.

The original article can be found by clicking here

Many thanks to Tailgate365.com, Media FrenzyCommunications and EA Sports for this wonderful act of support for our troops.

Iowa Hawkeye TE Brandon Myers Interview

This week, Tailgate365 had the distinct pleasure to interview Brandon Myers, a Tight End out of the University of Iowa.  Brandon will be heading for the NFL this season and has the size and strength to make an impact.

TG365 - Coach Ferentz has traditionally built his teams from the line outwards. What have you learned from him as a Tight End that you think will help you in the NFL the most?

BM - Technique is something coach emphasizes the most. He has taught me to be very critical of my technique and be aware of what I was doing on a day-to-day basis. Learning from a very proven coach has been great. I feel that I know what I'm doing right or wrong and I can fix them by watching film and taking that to the practice field.

TG365 - What are your workout numbers?

BM - We haven't really timed anything. The only thing we have done is the bench. I got 19 during the first week of training.

TG365 - Who was the toughest defender you faced during your time at Iowa?

BM - Matt Roth, Kenny Iwebema (Iowa), and Corey Wooten from Northwestern.

TG365 - Where are you working out and who are some of the players you are training with?

BM - I'm working out in Iowa City with our training staff. I'm working out with Shonn Greene, Mitch King, Seth Olsen, Bradley Fletcher, Rob Bruggement, and Sean Considine.

TG365 - What do you think the biggest challenge will be going from the Big 10 to the NFL?

BM - The biggest thing from what I have heard is the speed of the game.

TG365 - When you were growing up, what NFL team did you dream of playing for?

BM - I grew up wanting to play for the Cowboys.

TG365 - I am from Iowa and have been rooting for the Black and Gold since I was a kid. Being from Prairie City, did you grow up wanting to be a Hawkeye?

BM - Being a little kid and growing up watching the Hawks I always wanted to "run out of the tunnel" just like the Hawks. It was definitely a dream of mine to be a Hawkeye.

TG365 - The Outback Bowl was total domination for the Hawks. How great was it to take down an SEC team in a prime time bowl?

BM - It was a great feeling. The year before we were watching teams play on new years day. It kind of humbled us and we came together as a team which helped us through the season. Making a bowl game and winning in convincing fashion was a great way to end the season and my career. It's something that I will never forget.

TG365 - Which do you get the biggest thrill out of, throwing down a bone-crushing block so your team can score or catching a touchdown yourself for the glory?

BM - It doesn't matter to me as long as the offense puts points on the board.

TG365 - And now we want to give you a chance to brag a little with a simple question. Brandon Myers, why are you so awesome?

BM - I feel that I bring a lot to the table. I can make a big catch for a first down or make a block to spring a back for a gain.

Thanks again to Brandon for taking the time to talk with us!

Florida State CB Tony Carter Interview

This week, Tailgate365 had the pleasure of interviewing Florida State Seminole corner back Tony Carter as he anxiously awaits the upcoming NFL draft. Many draft sites peg Tony as a quality corner and could be a real sleeper in the draft.

TG365 - Where are you working out and who are some of the players you are training with?

TC - I'm working out in Orlando, FL with Tom Shaw. Some of the other
players I'm training with are Derrick Williams from Penn State, Shawn
Nelson from Southern Miss, some of my teammates from FSU (Drew
Weatherford, Kenny Ingram, Toddrick Verdell), a few guys from Oregon
State (corner back Keenan Lewis, Brandon Hughes) and a corner back from
Cincinnati (Deangelo Smith).

TG365 - What are your workout numbers?

TC - My workout numbers are a low 4.3 in the 40.... 36 inch vertical jump.
10.3 on the broad jump, and time will tell it all on the other
drills...

TG365 - Who was the best player you faced in your career?

TC - I've faced a few good players, so it's hard to just pick out one guy but
if I had to choose one I would say Matt Ryan was the best player I've ever
faced.

TG365 - How much of an honor was it to be named All ACC Second Team?

TC - I must say it's a blessing to be named a part of the all ACC team. I feel
a lot of good players played in the conference this year.

TG365 - What will be the biggest adjustment going from the ACC to the NFL?

TC - The biggest adjustment to me from college to the NFL is the lifestyle. In
college you have people telling you what to do and when to do and now
it's pretty much you on your own with more responsibilities.

TG365 - During your time at Florida State, what was your most memorable game, and why?

TC - I would have to say a moment that will always be close to me is my 1st
game as a red shirt freshman. It was my 1st start and we were playing one
of our rivals Miami. Yes the Canes...and we had lost to them 4 times
straight. It was a Monday night and the entire world was watching. There
was talent all over the field and I was nervous but at the same time ready
to show the nation who I was. To make a long story short, I played a
great game and was defensive player of the game. Not to mention we came
out with a win.

TG365 - When you were growing up, what NFL team did you dream of playing for?

TC - Growing up Jerry Rice was my favorite player and the 49ers was his team
so I wanted to play for them.

TG365 - We all want to know, are you a gamer? If so, what console and what do you play most?

TC - I play a little bit, I'm a PS3 guy. Of course I play sports games but I
love NBA 2k9. I'm known for giving whoopings out.

TG365 - Who was your biggest influence while growing up?

TC - Growing up I was raised by my grandma and mom, but my grandma was the
lady who taught me almost everything about life and how to become a good
man. She's my girl and everything I do I think if this is something
she would want for her grandson to do.

TG365 - And now we want to give you a chance to brag a little with a simple question. Tony Carter, why are you so awesome?

TC - Why me ....TONY CARTER?!? I feel like I can make players better on the
field. I've always been a winner and will continue to improve everyday.
I'm a guy who loves to listen and learn. Off the field I am a man who
treats people with respect. Need I say more ... lol

Thanks again to Tony for taking time out of his schedule to talk, we will be following him through the draft and his rookie season closely!
