More life, ahhhhhhh

So many people have warned me about the formidable tunnel, that I now am looking in a western direction for a job.  What did I find?  VCU Health System.  Well, I have been there before, but wasn't really considering driving that far at the time.  Williamsburg to Richmond.  Ugh.

I have had many comments on my "cheerful mood", among other things, these past several days.  My patients like my hair long.  Nice.  I smile a whole lot more.  I hum to myself while I work.  Life is good!  Why?  I have been working on my list.  Oh yes, it is painful to work down a list like mine, but must be done to keep my sanity.  Most of the things on my list right now are life changing decisions, so it is not easy to check off anything, but I am doing it!  Yeh, it is all about getting a new job, moving to Virginia, moving the divorce along, and a bunch of family and friends things.

My birthday is soon.  What am I doing for my birthday?  Helping out my man.  He is having a procedure on that day and needs me to be his driver and person that sits in the waiting room worrying.  Nah, it's just routine, but we worry anyways.  Did I say he is a cancer survivor?  Yes, and that is always in the back of our minds whenever there is a procedure, blood test, or whatever.  So spending my birthday in a waiting room in a hospital is not so bad, as long as there are other days.  Know what I mean, jelly bean?

Life and busy

I luv that I still get hits even tho I haven't blogged for ages.  Life is coming at me so fast,  I have little time for anything else.  I am job hunting in Virginia, and have had a couple of good bites, one in Williamsburg, the other in Norfolk.  I am told that if I work on "the other side of the tunnel" it will be a nightmare getting there every day.  The tunnel is a big deal, I guess.  I have driven thru it myself a couple of times, but I guess not at rush hour.  I had no problem.  But, Norfolk is an hour's drive, not counting the tunnel, as they say.  Sounds like the better job, tho.  sigh.

There is really nothing new in my life, just more of the same.  I am hoping some things will resolve soon.  I need a break from all this nonsense.  Oh, clannie buds......  I played my first game of Magic with Gerry.  I think he is a quick learner and might enjoy it online.  Now I have to convince him that I won't let any sharks get ahold of him.

Real Life Tidbits

Real life has been running me ragged lately.  I am job hunting in Virginia.  Doing that long distance by email and/or telephone is extremely difficult since I am not allowed to use my cell at work, except at lunch time, and recruiters work the same hours I do.  I am STILL dealing with my accident from November.  The car is fixed, I received the check, and now I have to have the car "inspected" by my insurance company to make sure it was actually fixed.  WTF?  I asked if she could talk to the people that fixed it.....no.  Can she take my word for it?...no.  Can they come to me?....no.  So, here I am, Saturday morning, and I have to go to someplace and get my car inspected before noon.  Boooooo

I have been called to the "principal's office" to be reprimanded for my absenteeism.  Oh, yeh, she has only been with us since January, and she was looking at the past year.  Two deaths in the family, a car accident, a court date, and some other things of that nature had me taking unscheduled time off.  And I leave early a lot, cuz if my work is done, in the past, we were supposed to get the heck out of Dodge.  Not any more.  It is confusing.  Whenever you get a new manager things change, and I had to take the hit for different management styles.  And I am not the only one.  Ah, well, hopefully not for long.

I found a "life stressor" test on the web that was interesting.  It gave points for things that have happened in the last year that are likely stressful.  There were things like, divorce, loss of a family member, moving, job changes, new relationship, old relationship gone, etc.  The score that was considered bad and cause psychological problems and even physical illness was anything over 300.  Eek!  I guess I am one sick puppy, cuz my score was 533!  And I really don't see any end in sight.  Good thing I am tough!

Other than that, life is good!  My man is here for the weekend.  We are planning a lot of good things, including a cruise in October.  Dinner at Maggiano's and a movie (Alice in Wonderland) today.  Good stuff.  And, he takes out the garbage and kills bugs that Keesha finds for us.  My hero!

Job Hunting

No, I didn't lose my job.  Yes, I still love slinging chemo and my patients.  But, that hunky guy that lives almost 4 hours away is getting more and more hard to live without during the week.  I am very discouraged, tho.  Williamsburg has virtually nothing, and the surrounding hospitals all seem to be hiring in psychiatry, which is a loooooong way from oncology.  Well, most of the time.  I have now started searching in a 50 mile diameter, and there is a little more to choose from, but, yikes!  50 miles to and from work every day!  Makes you want to retire.  My central point is Williamsburg, VA.  I have checked out most of the penninsula, now am going to start looking in Richmond.  Blah!  The things we do for love!  Oh, that sounds like a song......

Sooooo, I can do anything for a while.  If anybody has any ideas, let me know.  Hmmm, maybe I could go work in Colonial Williamsburg as a .....dunno, but it might be fun.
