I made my mom cry today....

....but in a good way. 

 

Last night, I made homemade pies with blackberries that I had in the freezer from berry season last summer.   I decided to make one for my mom.  Her and her husband are on a very fixed income and are kinda low on groceries until the end of the week.  So, I took it down to her today, and she was so surprised.   Later on, she gave me a call, and told me that she had a piece of that pie and when she took a bite of it she started crying...   I was like "WHY?"  And then she reminded me of a little something from my childhood.  When my brother and I were kids, there were times that we didn't have a lot to eat.  So when  we had dinner or some special treat, mom either wouldn't have seconds, or wouldn't eat the last piece of something.  We always asked her why and she said that she just wasn't hungry.  She reminded me that years later, my brother and I figured out exactly why she did what she did.  It wasn't because she wasn't hungry.  It was because she always made sure to save whatever there was for us kids so that if we were hungry, we could have it.

And when she took a bite of that pie today, she said to herself "I don't have to save any of this today"  And then that made me cry... But, it wasn't tears of sadness.. I was so happy that I was able to make her day a little bit brighter...

My new tattoo

My fellow clan mate and good friend, TwistedMr. designed this for me...  Would have loved to have him tattoo me, but Ontario is a little too far away....   It's a barbed wire dreamcatcher....

Well... I'm almost there..

For those of you who knew about my attempt at weight loss, I hit a milestone this morning...... 30 lbs gone since the first of January......  I thought I was gonna cry when I looked at the scale... I had to weigh myself a couple of times just to be sure I wasn't seeing things... I've still got a good bit more to lose, but I'll get there..... I've made it this far, so why stop now....

I posted this in our clan forum, and wanted to share with the rest of you.... It's dumb, wrong, but so true...... No offense to anyone out there... I just thought it was funny...

1. Cows
2. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments


COWS
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad
cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost
three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington?
And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11
million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give
each of them a cow.


THE CONSTITUTION
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we
just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked
for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a
courthouse is this:

You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,'
and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It
creates a hostile work environment.

COD Prestige.... WTF was I thinking???

A couple of days ago, I got the choice of going to Prestige Mode on COD4.... So I decided last night that I was going to go ahead and give everything up and start all over again.... I wish I had really thought it through just a bit more before pushing that button..... I also wish someone had smacked me in the head and told me "NOOOOO.....Don't do it!!"   I knew that I had to start with all the basics again.... What never crossed my mind was that so many others out there still have all their stuff.... Now, I'm getting my ass handed to me... I feel like a total noob all over again.....

OK...rant over......

 And before you ask..... Yes, I'd like some cheese with my "whine"....
